That’s quite a beautiful area where they live. Betcha the nearest neighbor is miles away—a fact for which the neighbors are eternally grateful, LOL!!

I have just remembered another comment that a reader made when this 1990 strip was reprinted four years ago. A reader said, “I thought that the plan was always to cause havoc whatever the weather.” That reader seemed to have missed an important point. Neither Calvin nor Hobbes usually plan to cause havoc. The havoc usually comes as a result of Calvin doing what he wants without thinking of the consequences. That is the opposite of planning.

The best plan is to have no plans!

“The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”…………..It is gonna be like that the rest of your life!!!

Ah, the lazy days of Summer. I absolutely love being retired.

That’s a plan I have followed from time to time but needing to buy, fix, install something always interfered.

Technically, splashing around in a creek is doing something.

Super Comic. Beyond excellent.

Very few families live where the kids can walk to a creek.

Fortunate indeed, Calvin.

This is the second comic that made me feel bad about having grown up as a city/suburban kid.

Feeling that way when it is cold is great, too.

After watching Calvin remove his shoes in the first panel, I could only think “Gee, I hope he took his socks off, too…” when I was reading the second panel.

Good plan, Calvin. You stay out of your folk’s hair that way.

Sounds like yesterday. And today

Cal is blessed to be in such beautiful place. Bill must have lived in serene environs.

Nothing is just like music to Hobbes’ ears.

That’s always been my goal.

Once upon a time in my hometown in the suburbs, in the 1970’s there were small spaces of greenery. By the 1980’s these nature strips were developed with house and driveways.

Love the way Hobbes is "testing’ the water before wading in the creek. Great scene with Calvin.
