Janis with a sharp jab that caught Arlo unawares.

My thought exactly Janis. I have rarely seen Arlo in anything dressy.

Two years before our cruise I started my husband on finding some nice clothes.

First time she’s ever uttered THAT particular phrase…

…and Janis didn’t even mean that as a jab.. just fact.

Are Arlo and Janis retired?

Come on, he must have some underwear without holes.

I’m a lot like Arlo…..I need to start purchasing some new clothes. I’m still wearing shirts I’ve had for over ten years. Ugh! I hate shopping!

Arlo sounds like my husband. So many trips I was hemming pants for him the night before an early flight to somewhere.

I would guess that there are stores where they are going, if the need arises for something new.

Janis? A woman who loves shopping said THAT? What is this world coming to?

If Arlo keeps stalling on moving near the kids, the next move will be to assisted living.

Work clothes Arlo? Beware if she tells you that you should take your power tools and painting equipment.

Dressy? No suits, no tux, no ties, I’ve been retired 20 years.

I wonder if he still has his leather jacket from the early strips

Arlo will go “Coastal” once he gets there.

Why do I have the impression theywill be working for free in the kids’ restaurant?

Shop local, when you get there

In other words, pack your regular clothes, Arlo.

We could be going on a simple overnight trip visiting one of our “kids”, and my Mrs. will pack at least 2 monster suit cases, she will have extra bags containing shoes, gifts for the grandkids, etc…. I put my toiletries travel bag, travel times worth of meds (+1 day for emergencies) and extra clothes into an old Kmart bag. If it aint in there, I don’t need it.

So what do they plan to do for a whole month? That is a very long time to leave the cat with a stranger.

Arlo is just plain sloppy, I guess.

Perhaps I’ve missed something, but I’m not sure why Arlo expects to go somewhere or attend an event while visiting the kids that would require something dressy? Has that ever happened before? I’m not an expert at A & J history, but I don’t remember him wearing a tie in a very long time, nor do I ever remember Janis donning a dress and heels.

Yuh cain’t bring whut yuh ain’t got.

Ah – but we do own reproduction 18th century clothing which I made for us for reenactments. (I did have my stays professionally made – my sewing is not that good and I did use a sewing machine.) When we go down to Colonial Williamsburg we often bring them with us to wear them. Sometimes at night in period clothing in a period city it almost feels as if one is back in the 1770s.
