Minority Report Pizzeria…we already know what you want and it’ll be ready in 30 minutes. Well, if you wanted it sooner, you should have called when you first thought of it.

That’s why we find the hysterical ‘the government could follow up’ response so funny. The government doesn’t have to do it, all they have to do is buy/rent the private companies database. Those are the ones spying on you every minute of your life. Even in Europe where we have pretty restrictive laws on their data gathering they still manage to do a good job of spying.

One night when I was working as a pizza delivery driver, the manager wanted to have a record sales night so he sent me to the local bar with ten pepperoni pizzas to sell them to anyone who might want a pizza. It was a very interesting experience walking in there at 10pm to a crowd that had already had several drinks and asking if they wanted to buy a pizza. This was in cooperation with the manager of the bar.

Good business model. Provided a need in a timely manner. Took a risk, benefitted from being right.

Give the AI developers enough time, and we will be getting exactly what we want, exactly when we want it, even though we didn’t order it yet. BUT — and this could be the upside to the whole thing — if a company sends you something you didn’t request, it is considered a gift, and you’re not required to pay for it.

This prescience does not seem to exist around here.

Husband and I stopped going out for Saturday night dinner and movie date when Covid started and due to the cost of movies we have continued to do same with the movie part on TV. We take in dinner either from a Chinese or an Italian place (which are next to each other) for the dinner part of the date.

He orders a chicken parmigiana hero most weeks. Two weeks ago he was ordering and I heard him order eggplant parmigiana hero and just figured he wanted something different.

When we got there to pickup the order and he heard “eggplant” he was upset and I found out (after almost 50 years together as friends, dating, and married) that he is allergic to eggplant (though I would swear he has eaten same in the past). Luckily the people there were very nice and insisted on switching the meal for him and cooked a chicken parm sandwich for him instead.

If that prescience existed here they would have know to what to make him – or at least ask if he was sure when he ordered dinner.
