Back to the running joke about Edgar and the door. Typically you need to train your dog to go before your bedtime and then hold it until morning. Do the Pattersons really get up every night at 3 am to put the dog out? Apparently so.
John, Edgar is old enough for training, including crate training you know.
Before some of you go crazy…..Crate training a puppy takes advantage of the dog’s natural instincts to seek out a comfortable, quiet and safe place when the environment around them becomes too loud or overwhelming. It’s an important tool in preventing dogs from chewing on items in the home or during housetraining. Crates are also a safe way to transport your dog in the car. A crate should never be used as a form of punishment. Just as you have your own space, a crate is very much a dog’s own space that belongs to them.

There are some funny stuff coming up with Edgar and the door. At least, I think it’s funny.

The things some parents will do for their dog! ( Oh, and the kids too!)

I ‘like’ how John is the one who has to go to work, but Elly gets to stay in bed, even though she could sleep in a bit more.

A lot of things can make sense when you’re not fully awake.

Notice its always “Why don’t you…” and not “Why don’t I….”?

And Edgar will just sniff around, not do anything, and then walk back to the house.

“The dumbest things make sense at 3 AM” and yet he’s awake and lucid enough to have made this realization.

Another reason why I don’t have pets.

If you go out and pee in the yard, the dog will think that you had to pee and associate the act of going outside with peeing.

I or my husband have done that for many a dog.

Has anyone else started getting pop up ads in that gray space above the comics? Mine started doing that today.

Too bad dogs won’t use a litter-box.
