I’ve got a few Sears Craftsman hoses that are almost back from that time. They’re still going great.

All I remember is that it tasted like plastic but a different vintage than squirt gun plastic

If it’s been setting out in the sun, you have to let it “breathe” and cool for a while by letting the water run for a while.

I remember translucent water hoses. If there are bubbles in the line, you can see things moving along. They were prone to break when a car ran over them, so they’re not around any more.

We drank out of garden hoses when I was a kid, didn’t kill us.

One of my relatives won’t even let his dogs drink water from the garden hose—he bought some kind of special hose he uses to fill their water bowls out in the yard. Another relative fills her dog’s bowl with filtered water. Maybe Newt is deprived—he gets tap water!

My wife got a wading pool for the mutts, as it’s been breaking 100F here. Brit, the puppy, thinks it’s a giant water dish and it probably tastes like the other water dish in the backyard. The other three ignore it.

I bought a few of those stretchy, lightweight, hoses (as seen on TV). One of them just “exploded” while I watered some potted plants. It worked for a year.

That water was more clean and more healthy than the water that comes out of the pipes today.

OMG that brings back memories! Especially the weird plastic-metallic taste. We drank it anyway, it was freaking hit but the blow up pool so cool. For about a half hour.

Ah yes, the pleasures of summer as a child, drinking from the garden hose, running through the sprinklers with your friends, riding your bike all over town without worry, only going home for lunch and supper and not having to be in until the street lights came on. Those were the days.

Half the water I drank until I was about 8 years old came out of one of those.

Oh, yeah! That description does sound like what I drank as a kid in the summer. We all drank out of the hose, and each had to make sure our mouth only touched the water. Everyone did. If a kid slipped and touched the nozzle, all the other kids would soundly scold him or her for it.

Our puppers love drinking from the hose, especially when I squirt it at them. The cats not so much.

I drank from the outside tap or hose. It was artesian water, delicious. Let it run to cool it.
