The perfect retorts I come up with are often years too late.

No matter what “clever” retort Cliff thinks he has, Pam will be able to instantly respond to it. To her, an argument with him is a battle of wits with an unarmed person (attributed to Oscar Wilde, and many others).

I think I’ve had this happen to me. Strangers have come up to me and yelled, “Oh yeah?” Clearly they’ve won the argument before I’ve even met them!

Dr. Mel would give his right arm to find out what happened to his right arm.
