I’m giving this a LIKE in sympathy for the many who know what this is like, and in gratitude that I only take a couple supplements voluntarily. (D and B-complex, sometimes one or two others and/or a couple aspirin)
One of my meds is $9k per dose, down from the $16k it was a year ago. However, this plugger has gone on a med hiatus. Oct 20-2024 I stopped taking everything. I felt with the side effects of several of the meds, it was time for a body reset.
We spread the meds out over the day – partially because different rules apply as to when to take each med.
In the am we take thyroid meds, and two bp meds each. We take a diabetes med with lunch. At dinner I take the same diabetes med again, husband takes same plus he may or may not take a different Diabetes med depending on what he is eating, At bed time he takes one of the bp meds from the morning again plus another bp med. Plus he takes a once a day insulin at night.
Have 5 “day of the week” boxes. One each for am, one each for meals and one for him for his bed time meds. I reload the boxes every Saturday night.
When we travel I have a different set of pill boxes. This setup has a removable section for each day and each day has 4 boxes to it. I put his am pills in the am sections. I put his lunch and dinner pills in the dinner section (they are going to be transferred to the small box he carries in his pocket together anyway). I put his evening pills in the evening section. I put all of my pills in the lunch sections. I take out the pill box to match the next day the night before. We refill our pocket boxes for the next day. I then put day’s box on “his side” of the counter top (technically the covered over stove) of the small kitchen area of the RV. When we get up the next day I get dressed in bed while he gets dressed by the kitchen area (across the aisle from the toilet “compartment”). When he has taken his pills he puts the day’s box back on “my end” of the counter (aka the sink edge) for me to take. After I do I put the box for the day in the (only) drawer for us to refill our pocket boxes from at night and for him to take his night meds from.

I have one pill I have to take with food. I asked my Dr. if the other pills could count as food. No.

How about if you take your pills in the morning instead of breakfast?

Probably, the first breakfast would be a big bowl of high-fiber cereal.

Not to mention the pills you have to take at night.

Especially if you drink a full glass of water with each one like the instructions say, other than the ones to be taken with food.

I’ve reach that point in life that I’ve started calling all my prescriptions a “Jetson’s breakfast”!

I keep asking for mint chocolate flavored meds, but they think I’m joking.

Funny I take one in the morning, then the second dinner before going to bed.

All works for us – maybe not for everyone.
