It’s all about the bass…. RIBBIT!

All across America, every year, people will search out an excellent specimen of an evergreen tree — symbol of eternal life — and proceed to murder it and drag its corpse back to their living rooms, where it will sit in a corner and slowly dessicate into a fire hazard (youtu.Be/wNBTE71iQmU). Then, after it’s become too pathetic to look at any more, they’ll drag its remains out to the curb, to be carted off to hasten the end of the useful life of the local landfill.

Here’s an alternative to this silvacide epidemic. Mark your calendar now for next spring, when you can head out to a local nursery and get a LIVE evergreen that you can plant in your front yard and have for years to come, enjoying its natural beauty year round while saving money, nurturing the environment, and still enjoying your holiday.

We can leave it at the fire station to be hauled off and converted to mulch. We go artificial, however.

Danae, you can be such a little snot!

Used to cut trees on our rural acreage, but when we moved to apartment in city, we looked for artificial. Found one that folded out to 6’w x 7’t, full of branches and greenery. That was ‘65 and we still use it every year, covered with family owned ornaments from the early 1900’s. The family likes seeing it. The running joke is that it sheds a few more needles each year which have to be vacuumed. Joke is, needles continue to show up around the house until the next year. Somehow they escape the vacuum, travel on shoes, move with the a/c breeze, whatever. Always a fun reminder of the fun we had while they were part of the tree.

Mocking chicken legs next?

Magical time of the year, when Danae is the one being sensible.

Go with a Festivus pole. Use an old coat rack. It’s fun.

I have a tabletop tree with fibre optic lighting. No need to decorate it, it’s very pretty all on its own.

Or just don’t bother with a tree at all. (That’s my approach.)

“MAGA integrity?”

Do you expect anything less? They are all in it for the fraud and grift. They are the mechanic that charges for repairs never rendered or repairs rendered that were not needed. They are the car dealership that sells you a car knowing it needs thousands in repairs, but rigs the car well enough to make it off the lot. They are everything that is wrong with the USA. The only thing they get right is they know how important it is to vote. Even if it eventually destroys their lives too, because they vote for people just like them.

Always some righteous goof going on about trees.

You don’t mind when they pick apples or tomatoes, do you?

Same thing. Trees are grown as a crop. Puts food on the farmer’s tables and clothes on their backs.

And, no one sent me a card on my b’day, so don’t wait for a christmas card from me. Buncha bums. Bah, humbug!

Some of us don’t kill trees to celebrate a pagan ritual placed on top of a religious festival. Some of us don’t celebrate Christmas at all.

Hannukkah last a week, with presents every day.

The second year after we got married we bought a nice large realistic looking artificial tree. . This year we put it up again for its fiftieth year. Still looks real and better than most of the new ones.

I will go and burn one on Dec 28 to celebrate the return of the sun.

Wait—how can an imaginary horse demolish anything??

I just got a tree shaped candelabra that I use every year. It lets me burn candles safely.

Lucy has a more dramatic view of the situation. And it’s more fun.

Oh the drama.
