My son was in one of those. Said, they told him to stand in a certain spot and look like he’s busy.

The main problem is that the people on those programs turn out thinking they’re stars, and some have become infamous! They’re usually either manipulated or very manipulative. Either way they’re mostly a waste of space and time.

They had TV, whether reality or made up sitcoms, way back in the B.C. millennium?

I never knew that Philo Farnsworth (or was it John Logie Baird) lived that long ago!

This is the basis for the entire TV / movie / social influencer genre (and the people who fall for this cr@p)!

The thing that is most annoying about reality shows besides being scripted is the constant going back and forth between the action and the 1-1 commentary. ie: so here we are at …… watch a scene then 20 seconds later commentary then back to the action and so on.

If there is a camera present to record the scene then it is not reality

Shows for people who have never lived a day in reality. Like delusional Liberal mushrooms.

Sadly, those stupid shows are changing how people behave in the real world, and not for the better.

From all the above and what I have heard, most reality tv has a lot in common with Candid Camera

I watched about 15 minutes of Survivor before I came to the realization that the venue meant nothing. It was not about surviving in the wild, it was all about that great American pastime, stabbing other people in the back and looking out for number one.

I decided that I could get all that drama for real at the office.

If our ancestors followed the script of survival of the fittest instead of cooperating, we’d be extinct. In fact some of us did go extinct.

In a one-on-one matchup between a Cro-Magnon (our ancestors) and a Neanderthal. My money is on the latter. Neanderthals were hardier, stronger, and had a brain size on par with ours , so probably equally as intelligent.

Where the Neanderthals came up short was in speech. The shape of their larynx (voice box) indicates that if they could speak, it would be with difficulty. Speech is the basis for organization and cooperation. Neanderthals seldom lived in communities larger than an extended family. We went on to form tribes, cities, empires and nations.

It was essentially designed as “writerless TV”. Cheaper to make than the average game show and without the pesky studio audience. They are intended to entertain people so bored they will watch envy dry.
