The winter solstice, shortest day of the year, I assume is what this is about.

I keep reminding everyone that the days are now getting longer. Rejoice!

Well, here in California, it’s Kiwi Fruit Day, which I am celebrating with the kiwi=pineapple jam I made yesterday.

The longest night of the year.

It was dark at 3PM

It felt really long down here in Oz.

Today is the day we start gaining more daylight, every day for six months.

It is the shortest day (least daylight) but the earliest sunset was in the first week of December. The latest sunrise is in the first week of January.

The shore-test day? And with me so far from the ocean.

It came and it went. … or … Did it just pass him by?

If you miss it, how much will it change (or not change) your life?

I think I’m one of the few who doesn’t mind an early sunset. Just wish the cold weather didn’t come along with it!

It’s a shorty alright.

The annual have lunch and go back to bed day.

Looking forward to increasing light at breakfast.

Am I the only one who is sad about the days getting longer? Short days mean low winter sunlight. And low winter sunlight is the best there is. (Yes, I am a photographer.)

Got up at sunrise, took a shower and came out of the bathroom to see the sun set…

Subtle, but, “It’ll dawn on you,” would have been so wrong.

Yep – Australia, THAT’S IT! Starting today, we’re finally going to take our sun and our daylight BACK!

My brother calls it the best non-denominational holiday. Now begins the slow march toward summer.
