My daddy always said that Lapland was where Missouri laps over into Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Lapland is part of Finland. There is also a Lapland (or Lappland) that is part of Sweden. Do you suppose either Finland or Sweden on would like to sell their Lapland? It might make a nice/interesting deal along with buying Greenland from Denmark.

Funny thing is, in the US, most tracks are 400 meters, or about 1/4 mile.

At my 25-yard community pool, it’s 70.4 laps to swim a mile.

“…there are four Lapps to the mile.”

And they’re the reining ethnic group.

OK, another version: Only about 25% of Lapplanders ever smile. So there’s four Lapps to a smile.

Not a country, it’s a geographic region over several countries.

Lappland is a landscape in Sweden and Finland, and a town in Norway. The sami/same (two syllables) live in Norway Sweden Finland and Russia, lapp isn’t used much anymore as the name for the people. That said, there are a lot of place names with lapp in them. Around here there is Lappudden (same point) but there hasn’t been a reindeer drive through there since 1928.
