I wonder who will be in the bathroom when Mike peers in. As I mentioned yesterday, this seems to be a repeat of that old strip where Mike and his buds climbed a tree to peek into Molly’s window. Do you think Mike remembers that??
Let’s see…so far in the last 24 comic hours Mike has lost his check, forgotten his keys, probably had one too many beers, and has to wake up early tomorrow for an appointment. What else could he possibly do to create more havoc/drama before the sun rises? Oh wait, there’s a tree he can climb to reach a second story window! What could go wrong when you’re a bit tipsy, climbing a cold, slippery tree trying to enter a building through a second story window in the middle of the night?
This is the one and only time Jodi and Kit are mentioned separately.
While Mike and Weed are unusually stupid for forgetting to bring their keys with them, they are surprisingly knowledgeable about windows. They know which window is Kit’s. They know she is away for the week, so that there is no use banging on her window. They know that the upstairs bathroom window does not lock. More importantly, we see no mention at all of Jodi’s window and whether she is in this week. It is safe to assume that their knowledge of windows comes from practical experience going through them. They are going this to avoid alerting Mrs. Dingle, and they must have had some success in doing this in the past.
My guess is that Mike and Weed have gone in and out of the bathroom window and Kit’s window before. The lack of mention of Jodi’s window or her location or her willingness to let them after midnight means to me that they have not been through Jodi’s window before or if they have tried, they know she has little tolerance for them doing that.
Now, as to why they would be familiar with Kit’s window, that is a subject that Lynn Johnston does not bring up. It is as close as we get to an indication that they have made a play for Jodi and/or Kit and Kit is the one that was willing to “open a window” for them.
SPOILER this next part. Don’t read if you don’t want to know:
Mike and Weed going through windows to avoid Mrs. Dingle is going to be a recurring theme.
The only thing missing in this comic, especially in the last panel is the phrase, “Here, hold my beer.” Or in Canadian it would be “Here, hold my beer, eh.”

Interesting phrasing, “never brought your keys” vs “didn’t bring your keys.”
I would assume they both did, at some point, take their keys….just not on this particular night.
