I think they are perfect for each other. They cancel each other out. They balance each other. She too manipulative and calculating…he too naive and trusting. He doesn’t know he is being insulted and handled…and Ann couldn’t handle or manipulate him the way she does with others so she ‘plays nice’ for a change and IF they develop a relationship, she will fall into this pattern, so they might get along just fine.

On a different note: Sure Ox is big and because of his size, rather intimidating. To Some. But he’s also apparently Non-Violent, which IMHO makes him a bit of a “Paper Tiger”.My question: What if one day, one of these “Bullies” calls Ox’s Bluff???

Hey, Otto! What you wrote yesterday. I agree. Ox is most definitely a big-hearted and highly principled fella who does “go with the flow” — because normal ordinary folks DO stick up for the underdog and take a stand against bullying, at least in belief if they cannot do it physically. Luckily, Oxford has the girth to “walk the walk” — he carries a big stick.Remember that froggy guy who used to go on and on about wanting to be honored for not “going with the flow”? Where’s he been? Maybe he got flushed away, flow-wise. That’s what happens when you drink from the sewer line instead of the regular tap. You start seeing gay moose and other hallucinogenic oddities.

A word to the author, those of us who didn’t see the strips where Ann was so evil that she now deserves anything and everything the other characters will stoop to inflicting on her, might start thinking the rest of the cast really are no better than she is…

Remember, he’s doing this for pay her back for what she did to Brad and Toni. Granted, it’s about as nebulous as you can get in the “good” department, but Greg has sort of retooled TJ. Frank and Nancy were the ones who paid the price (literally) last time – not the firefighters – and they’ve forgiven him. This time the upsold customers are the collateral damage, and we’re not supposed to care about them because they’re a means to an end – namely, putting chocks to Ann. Also, they could say “no”.

You misread. I did not say Ann is naive or trusting – far from it. That was Ox I was talking about.

Ann is not a physical abuser nor a sociopath. She is just manipulative and cunning – not very admirable personality traits – of which TJ possesses as well. Both like to play people.

Sociopaths play their preys from afar and then go in for the kill. That is not Ann.

Ann is a verbal abuser – she belittles people and pushes them around. This is the maximum I am willing to label Ann. And I believe she couldn’t verbally abuse Ox even if she tried because Ox is too dense as Ann is an intellectual verbal abuser – she is not unrefined like high school kids.. Ox could not tell she is manipulative and cunning. He is a simple person. Like I said, they cancel each other out.

I think you’re thinking of serial killers – sorry, but what you don’t know about sociopaths could fill a book. Sociopathology is a subset of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), which is defined as a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood. .Some classic hallmarks of sociopathology are: 1) Manipulative and conning behavior: never recognizing others have rights, they see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. Appearing to be charming, they are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims..2) Grandiose sense of self: they feel they are entitled to things as their right. .3) Pathological lying: they have no problem lying easily; it is almost impossible for them to be truthful with any consistency. Can get caught up in a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. .4) Lack of remorse, shame or guilt: repressed rage is usually at their core; it prevents them as seeing others as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. .5) Shallow emotions: they are not genuine, and when they seem to display emotions, they are more feigned than experienced and usually have an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, they remaining unmoved and cold at what would upset a normal person. .6) Incapacity for love .7) Callousness and lack of empathy: they feel their own pain, but are unable to empathize with the pain of their victims. Contemptuous for others’ feelings of distress, they readily take advantage of them. .8) Poor behavioral and impulse controls: rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval. produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. They feel they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every desire, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others. .9) Irresponsibility: Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause, they don’t accept blame, but blame others, even for acts they obviously committed. .Sound familiar? TJ has some of these traits, but since he is capable of genuine emotion they really apply to Ann. You’re sadly misinformed oif you think Ann’s emotional abuse is somehow less harmful because it isn’t physical or violent. She and Ox don’t “cancel” each other out, any more than a bunny in the middle of the highway “cancels” out a car. Because she doesn’t care about anyone but herself, there’s nothing in him as a person to interest her. If people like Ann get married, I can assure you it’s not because they’ve “fallen in love” with someone like Ox.

Actually, sexually abusing children is included in the category of inappropriate sexual conduct – it’s a classic sociopathic behavior. But “pedophilia” technically means targeting prepubescent children (so young that aside from genitalia you can’t tell their bodies apart).

Borderline “hebephilia” (pubescents of 11 to 14) might be more accurate, but IMO Bernice was well past that stage. Ann could only have been charged with statutory rape if things had progressed further; what the law considers a child (minor under the age of consent, 17 or 18) and what psychology considers a child aren’t always the same..Where did Greg hint about something illicit in Tokyo? There was a lot of joking in the forum that Ann would never leave because of the buru-sera vending machines in Tokyo where you can buy panties that have supposedly been worn by schoolgirls, but aside from that speculation I don’t recall his saying why she left.

Do not be deceived by facile misdiagnoses. Oxford is not stupid, dumb, or slow. He has a child-like innocence, but also a sense of right and wrong. Little Annie Awful has initially appealed to his protectiveness, but she is not immune to his wise and potent judgment. Not that he would strike a woman; but Truth has a way of tripping up those not familiar with it.

The schoolgirl/youth cult seems less likely for Ann – as I mentioned before, she seems to get her jollies from making her victim endanger their relationship in order to make her happy, then when there’s discord in the relationship, move in for the kill when the victim is at their weakest. To me, it doesn’t look like she has a thing for demure sailor suited schoolgirls with teddy bears flashing their undies.

    If you put a dash/minus sign too close at the beginning/end of something, you get strikethrough..You mean:(4 – 9/2)2 = (5 – 9/2)24 – 9/2 = 5 – 9/2 4 = 5

If you take the square root of a square, you get the absolute value of the original number. If you take the squared numbers, then (4-9/2)2 = (5-9/2)2, since each side equals 0.5.

But the numbers inside of the parentheses – the absolute values – are not equal, since 4-9/2 = -0.5, and 5-9/2 = 0.5. So the absolute values are unequal, and therefore 4 =/= 5.

The reason those traits are on the psychopath list is that they’re both anti-social personality disorders – the difference between them is in their outward behavior. .Sociopaths can control their behavior to some extent – psychopaths can’t. They also can’t maintain normal social relationships, sociopaths appear relatively normal. When it comes to crimes, psychopaths tend to be disorganized and erratic, sociopaths are better planners..Since both have ASPD both are capable of extreme violence. The current thought is that psychopaths are born that way, with an heredity/genetic predisposition, Sociopaths are made – in other words, primarily a product of their environment.

About your so-called “friend” – see #4. Since sociopaths don’t know how to be friends with anyone, you either become a victim or an accomplice, Either way, they use you for their needs. .Good for you for kicking him to the curb!
