I will admit, that’s about the size of a raccoon. Alarmingly, a few feet from their faces. And angrily out in the daytime, wanting to eat birds. Anybody else would say “That giant dog-monkey might have RABIES! Let’s run away and call animal control!” Crank: “Stop making sense!”
Ed’s a veteran of WW II, Korea, Viet Nam, the Gulf War, depending on what year this is. But despite that, “Rocky” is a much better name. That song cam out over 50 years ago!
Anybody else notice that “Davy” shrank by about half between panels one and three?
“Crankshaft” is turning into James Allen-period “Mark Trail,” with the photo-realistic clip art. Krankus already has Mark’s penchant for blowing things up…
didnt santa kill dave crockett some guy has been putting that comment in other strips for awhile he doesnt read crankshaft it seems because too many sensistive people come here
Okay, points for the raccoon. When I was a lad my uncle found three orphaned kits and their late mother on the grounds of the museum where he worked and raised them for a couple of months before letting them back into the woods. You haven’t lived until you’ve had a baby raccoon climb on top of your head.

“Tom, I really don’t think you need to spend an entire day just to explain yesterday’s strip. I mean, most people who read it know who Davy Cr-”
“Um, excuse me. Dan. Dan. Which of us was nominated for a Pulitzer? Who was that?”

“That’s right. And who’s writing was the reason for that Pulitzer nomination. Who?”
“…yours.”
“See, you’re so smart, Dan! I’m glad we had this chat.”

Pretty low bar for “making sense.”

What’s really alarming is that Crankshaft must have examined that raccoon’s genitals to see if it was male or female.
oakie817 12 months ago

Fun fact: The Davy Crockett was a light-weight gun on a tripod that fired a small tactical nuclear weapon.

Lillian is startled that Cranky actually knew a real historical fact beyond sports stats.

Crankshaft making sense is usually a sign you should order some potassium cyanide from Amazon.
