Dick Tracy by Mike Curtis and Charles Ettinger for November 18, 2021

So, this confirms that Tracy’s working hypothesis was that Briar Rose might have set off a bomb. I think that Tracy suspected that the Apparatus was somehow using the Time Drone, but he didn’t know the extent of it or how they were doing it.

I like the shadowy outlines of Lizz and Lee watching the interrogation.

I can’t believe I’m the first one to comment. This is a first for me. I love the artwork and shadowing in the first panel. Shelley is doing great. And now Tracy and company are getting valuable info. Good morning everybody!

How can Jonathon K. pass up Panel 3 Briar Rose?

Now, once they get to the bottom of why the drone went blooey, maybe we’ll find out more about why the hand doesn’t decay.

The old one way window trick !  That is a great shot of Lizz and Lee, in shadow. How does Tracy contain his excitement at this bit of news ?

The Apparatus will now face tax evasion cases for those millions worth of hidden treasure that they recovered.

Will the owners of the property where those treasures were found have a claim to a part of the treasure? Here, they do!

Does the one-way window/mirror fool any suspect anymore?Everyone knows about it by now, right? What purpose does it serve anymore? Does any police department still use it? Aren’t video cameras enough?

Super images again today , the first panel with the shadow images is WOW ! Big time great . Great job today , thanks to Shelley for great images again .

Tremendous use of the two panels. Briar’s body language is open and relaxed. She is not defensive or evasive. We know she is telling the truth. Tracy, Lizz, and Lee are likely to see her as credible. Pulling back from the interrogation room to include Lizz and Lee in the panel is great art that serves the story. The MCU is on the case, and this means more eyes and ears than Tracy’s. His hand gesture affirms his role as interrogator, while revealing that he is not being intimidating. The shadow on his face reflects his position of authority. Rose’s facial expression in panel two confirms her honest and helpful role. She wants off the hook, as light as the charges may be. Heat on the apparatus should take their attention off of Rose, who is no longer the problem or the solution for Ace and co.

Drum roll… So, will we learn if there was a reason that made any sense for her interviewing Tracy and Smith in terms of the story (or was this done solely to set her up to give Tracy the good on the Apparatus and makes no sense in terms of larger plot)?

I am trying to remember besides Ace of Spades and the Apparatus was Mumbles and Double up going to get a piece of the action?

Surely they did at least compensate Mumbles for the gas used going to the bookstore and what he paid out of pocket for the research materials.

Someday, hopefully soon, the stories and characters will catch up to the everyday excellence of the art. Any storytellers need work?

Loved the shadows of Lee&Lizz watching from outside.Sam is getting the blood spots off his coat.Will “Ace No.2” end up as the dead fall guy for the explosion?

They only tolerated him killing Little Notting as long as the cash kept rolling in.

Okay,going back to yesterday’s topic of “old favorites”.

I’d like to see a follow-up on Sketch Paree—1949—or definitely on “the water mask”,which really WAS the perfect murder weapon.

And NO BLOOD,which will satisfy the current watchdogs of the strip.

Fans remember the Paree of the 1960’s cartoons more than they do “the real thing”.

Paree was a rare “handsome” villain—-actually talented;butdefinitely mentally disturbed.And since he was a traveling entertainer before he “lost it”,he could have planted a few seeds over the years(if you get my drift).

Besides,we need an excuse to hear “Cocktails For Two” again.

Not to mention “Pass The Biscuits,Mirandy”.

In this case DT & Company are so far behind they are not even in the same story arc

What? She blabs everything she knows to the Fuzz? (well, I guess the Apparatus did try to kill her). Scheesh, he hasn’t even got the thumb screws out yet.

Now the story unfolds and the truth is told.

1-DT: Even though a bomb that could bring down the entirety of Smith Industries would’ve had to be the size of a dump truck and we have you on tape carrying nothing bigger than your purse, we believe you’re the one who blew up the place. The only question is – why?

2-SUKIE: STOP SWEATIN’ ME! I’LL SPILL! My motive stems from the untimely death of my father. When I was a kid, he worked for the Sanitation Department. He did…until…he committed sewercide.

DT: Nice try but that turd don’t float. What’s the real reason?

SUKIE: Ummm, I grew up without a grandma or a mother after Mom killed Gramma during their shift at the Sealey Posture Pedic manufacturing plant.

DT: So your mom was convicted of…

SUKIE: Yep, MATRESS-CIDE.

DT: I better sleep on that one…
