Is our constitutional democratic republic really that much a threat to the authoritarian dreams of the Republican’t party … that they have to tamper with elections?
Gerrymandering, gargantuan campaign spending, limited polling locations and staffing, assaults on the US Postal Service, photo-ID requirements for voting, and modern-day poll taxes (can’t vote if you owe fines) are all part of the giant bag of tricks used almost exclusively by Republicans to win elections, because THE ONLY WAY REPUBLICANS CAN WIN IS BY CHEATING!
Paul Weyrich is widely regarded as the “founding father of the conservative movement”. He founded ALEC and co-founded the Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority, Council for National Policy, and Free Congress Foundation, among others.
Speaking in 1980 at a right-wing conference in Dallas, Weyrich set out the case for voter suppression: “I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people…. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
The right wing and GOP are still acting on his advice to this day. Why? Because it works!
Kemp’s done a great job with Covid. I saw the crowd at the Auburn Georgia football game, almost all were without masks and very little social distancing.
I knew Kemp many years ago when he was just a local building contractor . Who only employed Mexican workers. He was a decent guy, wonder what happened.
I heard a good one. Remember when Donnie lied about the size of his Inaugural crowd and his people came up with the phrase ‘Alternative Facts?’ Well, if anyone complains that you aren’t being nice to the Covid riden GOPs, just say it’s ‘Alternative Compassion.’
Indeed….He Is only in the Governor’s chair because he stole the election from Stacy Abrams….via voter suppression while he was Secretary of State of Georgia. One of the Great Racists in America today…and Trump’s Number One Stooge!
Republicans are surely aware their ethos is abhorrent or they would not have to engage in such machinations in order to capture and hold offices. Had they something of actual value to bring to fruition in America, such things would not be necessary.
In 2018, Kemp was a candidate for governor where he faced Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams. Kemp refused to resign as secretary of state while campaigning for governor, a decision that many allege caused a conflict of interest. Kemp’s oversight of elections and election data as Secretary of State stirred controversy and accusations of abuse of power. In 2015, Kemp’s office erroneously distributed the Social Security numbers and dates of birth of registered Georgia voters. During the 2016 election, Kemp was the only state official to reject help from the Department of Homeland Security to guard against Russian interference. Kemp also encountered criticism from voting rights advocates; from 2012 to 2018, Kemp’s office cancelled more than 1.4 million voter registrations, and during the 2018 election, Kemp held up more than 53,000 voter registration applications, with nearly 70% of the voter registrations belonging to African Americans. On the eve of the election, Kemp falsely accused the Georgia Democratic Party of cybercrimes related to the election; a 2020 investigation by the Georgia Attorney General’s office concluded that there was no evidence for Kemp’s claims. In 2020, it was revealed that the supposed cybercrime that his office had been the victim of was in fact a planned security test that Kemp’s chief information officer signed off on three months prior. Following the general election on November 6, Kemp was declared the winner with 50.2% of the vote. Abrams subsequently suspended her campaign on November 16.
As governor, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kemp forbade cities and counties from implementing face mask mandates in spite of public health guidance that supported such mandates
Maybe we should follow Australia’s example. With very few exception all citizens of voting age must vote are they will be fined. And on top of that make it a felony to seemingly interfere with or not enable a person’s legal responsibility to vote.
If Kemp gets COVID-19, he will have brought it on himself, just as Trump has done. He had access to scientific advice and chose to ignore it, endangering all of us. It isn’t karma, it is science. He will have access to the best care, unlike others. Another reckless driver.
Trump said he brought football back. We will see how long that lasts and how many deaths and sicknesses will result from it. 2 NFL teams were delayed from playing the past week, and now 2 more, KC vs NE.
Chris Christie is another GOP driver of COVID-19, enabling Trump in his recent debate prep. Now Christie was able to have himself admitted to the hospital with mild COVID-19 symptoms. As for the rest of us, we will not receive care unless at death’s door.
Kemp dropped his recent lawsuit against the Atlanta mayor, who was attempting to protect citizens by mandating mask wearing in all public places as the pandemic rages on. Apparently, he knew he would lose.
Trump spoke of “herd mentality” regarding the pandemic, not herd immunity, which are 2 different things. Herd mentality is when many are persuaded by a particular idea, which may not be supported by reality. Unfortunately, many Trump supporters do engage in herd mentality. Herd immunity refers to the idea that so many will have been exposed to a virus, after much suffering and deaths, that so many will have had the virus that a population will be immune, since there will no longer be enough hosts for the virus to spread.
Republican voter suppression has been going on for a very long time — and much longer if you include the time when the racists were mostly in the Democratic Party up until the 1960s, when the remaining “Dixiecrats” defected to the Republican Party in response to the Democrats’ passage of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act during the LBJ administration.
Former Chief (and previously Associate) Justice William Rehnquist got his start in Republican politics as a Republican “poll watcher” in Arizona who was in charge of suppressing the Hispanic vote through intimidation.
Here are some numbers for the Kool-Aid drinkers that were provided 10/4 in the AM —-
Biden 53% and Trumpety 39%.
Dem lead doubles in one week as the self-proclaimed Superman is actually Barney Fife behind the WH curtain of sycophants. The red hat wearers are clicking their red heels trying to get back to Kansas.
Well, Kemp got a lot of help from N Carolina demo senate candidate Cal Cunningham today. Seems old Cal can’t keep his zipper closed. Tweeting pillow talk to his girl friend is so republican, Cal.
Trudeau is worth getting out of bed for every day! I hope he’ll have some fun with James Baker III’s recent book. In an interview last week, Baker confessed that he will have to vote for Trump because Baker,”can’t leave the Republican Party. They have “THE LEVERS OF POWER”. He publicly admitted democracy is dead. Had enough?
Wikipedia is the least reliable of sources. I have it on good authority that very few legitimate voters were purged, the vast majority of names were deceased or illegal immigrants.
Requiring address verification after inactivity is not voter suppression.
Requiring photo ID to vote is not voter suppression.
Georgia has a robust provisional ballot system that allows you to cast a ballot even if you have failed to respond to registration updates or even failed to bring ID to the polling place.
All of your whining and bitching and bullshit does not change the fact that these minimal requirements are NOT an impediment to vote.

and at a 3% fatalty rate herd immunity can be bought at the cost of only 10 million lives.
Why stop there?
Cease measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus as well. Don’t forget chicken pox and HPV too.
Let the epidemics rip and whoever is left will be herd immune at no economic cost except peoples lives.
But peoples lives don’t have any economic value in this brave new world, do they?
