We gotta move these refrigerators, we gotta move these color TVs.

man, is this job as an RA complicated
Argythree about 8 years ago
How could her RA book or checklist not have a space for reporting stolen property? That makes no sense.
SF1972 about 8 years ago
Well, CLEARLY the perp has to be someone she knows. No way it could have been a complete stranger.

Hope they can get this mystery all Bhutaned up soon.

Berniceâs book just lists bodies, not TVâs

It would be nice if this fancy new site let us reply to the person we wanted to reply toâŚ

Of course Bernice is the type to jump to conclusions. She is a single character example of opposite I always notice and note in this comic. I have noticed it with characters who attract each other, such and Knute and Crystal, or for that matter Gunther and TIffany. Berniceâs character is always the snarky know-it-all to her friend Luann, being the one who always has the sensible approach to Luannâs all over the map way of approaching the world. She likes to analyze people and always is concluding things about them which are often way off the mark, because contrary to being a smart as she thinks she is, she tends to separate emotions and jumping to conclusions just the opposite of her superior understanding of the world. Hence some funny, and sometimes poignant outcomes. Ah the smell of a new arc!!

Dear gocomics â it is very annoying to have to toggle the comments âonâ every time you go somewhere else â i.e., to check yesterdayâs comments or something â and itâs too easy to accidentally toggle out of the comments. Plus itâs likely that only those who are aware of the comments option â i.e., people who used read and commented on the comics before the switchover â will understand what that particular button is all about and give it a try. Couldnât you just leave âcomments onâ as the default, while still giving readers all of the other options? Just my two centsâ worthâŚ

@SACTOSYLVIA: Good luck with that. Everything we have asked them has fallen on deaf ears. But they say. âWe listened, We hear you, etc.â ReallyâŚ

Did anyone notice the ad on the common board selling a 60 inch HD TV? And yes, college students are stupid enough to try and sell stolen merchandise in the same neighborhood it was stolen in.
Wizardgoat about 8 years ago
The comments mechanism for the new site seems to be under rework. But at least the way it is at the moment, I found a trick. If you call up the site with " http://www.gocomics.com/luann?comments=visible#comments ", the current dayâs strip and the comments will be displayed all at once, without having to click the baloon.

Unfortunately, at the moment, the links to reply or see a reply chain seem to be broken. I suspect theyâll fix that pretty quickly.
flowergirl19 about 8 years ago
Why does she assume that whoever left the scarf also took the tv? Oh I get it, the scarf reminded her of Piro so sheâs in a love daze and canât think clearly.
sueb1863 about 8 years ago
Does she know for a fact that the TV was there before? It might have been missing for days.
I donât like that you have to click on the Replies link to see them, thatâs a pain. Too bad thereâs no way to just load everything at once.
ravonlea about 8 years ago
I like this arc. I also like the fact that the TV could have been missing for days but if so , wouldnât one of the other RAâs reported it and the supervisor would have told Bernice a few days ago when she gave her the assignment? Liked the advertisement on the board about the TV for sale. Nil and Jack go to Pitts Jr college and not MOONY University . I donât think they would have access to the dorm and/or common room unless they were visiting someone there. There is a lot of ways to play this out and Greg could have us hanging onto this story arc on and off for several weeks. I really like Dezâs character. She is fun, funny, down to earth and also way out there at the same time. I like her better than Delta and she is a good foil for Bernice , who can be really irritating ( but I guess that is what makes her funny).

Check out the ad on the Mooney U bulletin board: 60 inch HDTV for sale. Coincidence?

I think of Bernice as High Intelligence, Low Wisdom. Dez has boatloads of wisdom.

Nobody is âtoo scrawnyâ to lift a flat-screen TV. Besides, it was probably just âborrowedâ by Tiffany for some party she was throwing.

Interesting switch here for Bernice. Now, not only did she suspect her beloved Piro, but now she is suspecting Luannâs two Pitt Community College friends! I am disliking this very suspicious (and illogical) side of Bernice. If it gets to a point where she actually accuses one of these three fellowsâŚ.. I hope she gets a true comeuppance about it.
.
Does anyone actually think the Community Bulletin Board ad for a used 60 inch HDTV is really linked to the plotâŚ. or is it meant only as a âred herringâ for us to ruminate over? If Bernice happens to notice the ad, perhaps she will call whomeverâs number is listed and accuse him/her of stealing the Community Room tv? That could be humorous to see (although making Bernice even more annoying about this than she is at the moment).
.
Hopefully Dez will be able to bring Bernice to her senses before any direct accusations occur. But, I tend to doubt it, because then the story arc would not have any drama, or tension, or fun.
.
Final thought (question)âŚ. With the new site up, I have not seen ANY comments at all from Sukie. Does anyone knowâŚ. a) has she purposefully given up on the comments section because of vision challenges with the new site? or, b) is she just away for a few days on some other sort of matter that prevents her from accessing the site? For me, I am hoping she is just gone temporarily. I would miss her comments if she decides to permanently leave.

I did note the ad on the bulletin board for the 60" TV. If one goes back to the strip where Bernice set up the room for her and Piro to watch a silent film, you can see the TV is about a 32 to maybe at best, a 40 inch set (http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2016/06/01). So, unless they have changed out the TV since then, the 60" set for sale is a different set.
.
Also, there is a possibility that it was a gag and the sale notice on the bulletin board is part of the gag. If you look at most of the ads on the board that offer something for sale or a service, they have contact information on them such as the tear â off tabs at the bottom of the ads. The ad for the 60" TV has no contact information on it.
.
Just a couple of wild guesses, but who knows?
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member about 8 years ago
Off topic question, but I have exhausted all other avenues I could think ofâŚ.
.
I remember on the day of the launch of the new site here that somewhere I had information and/or a link to where the âSherpaâ cartoons are being housed until this new GoComics site can accommodate them. Does anyone recall either the link or where this information is? I would like to look at the handful of Sherpa cartoons I had in my queue.

It just occurred to me that it doesnât matter to me what I think of the new web site. Itâs probably here to stay. I better get on board. I just wish it would keep me logged in. This arc seems boring. Has it occurred to our characters that the television is out to be repaired and not missing? Oh well lets move on.
OneTime59 about 8 years ago
We pretty much know this already, but here goes with my thoughts, anyway. Bernice does her RA duties according to the âbook.â With a lot of room for exceptions, of course. She has not learned, and maybe canât, improvise. If there is no actual provision on the form to list missing, or stolen property, then use the reverse side of the form, or an additional sheet to note her findings.
jrankin1959 about 8 years ago
Thereâs a mystery series in this somewhere: The Overachiever DetectiveâŚ
SactoSylvia about 8 years ago
So this morning I logged in to gocomics and up popped todayâs Luann strip with comments showing â no need to go through numerous steps to get to the right strip, and no need to toggle on the comments! Iâm not sure if this is a gocomics change or the result of my browser learning my preferences, but I like it!
Sisyphos about 8 years ago
Dez is of course right, Bernice, my frazzled friend! But hereâs another bit of advice: read the dang bulletin board (lower right corner); it may be a clue!
Meh~tdology, fka Pepelaputr about 8 years ago
Perhaps itâs a sub-set of âbroken/damagedâ, Bern.
Argy.Bargy2 about 8 years ago
@Sisyphos: But the TV that Bernice and Piro watched silent movies on, in the Common Room, was smaller than the one advertised for sale on the bulletin boardâŚ

gromit82 about 8 years ago
A few separate notes:
Â
1. While I do see the âFor Saleâ TV notice on the bulletin board, itâs pretty small. I doubt that Greg means for it to be a clue. It took Luann and Bernice four strips to notice the Fuse Follies Talent Show poster, and that was much, much larger than the TV for sale notice.
Â
2. When I was in college, the TVs in common rooms were locked down to protect against theft. That would probably have been a good idea for Moony U. to follow.
Â
3. The idea that the thief might turn out to be a stranger unknown to Bernice (which seems quite reasonable for a burglary) resembles the concepts in TV Tropesâ Stranger Behind the Mask: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StrangerBehindTheMask
Schrodinger's Dog about 8 years ago
the LuannFan site just sent an email out, and in mentioning the possibilities for the missing TV it listed the following to vote for:
.-Piro! Bernice found that scarf!
. -Les! Heâs untrustworthy!
.- Jack and/or Nil! Because Bernice brought it up!
. â An unknown dorm resident who likes to post ads on the bulletin boardâŚ
. â The tv wasnât stolenâthereâs a logical explanation.
Schrodinger's Dog about 8 years ago
Iâve been requested to relay the following note from Sukie :
.âThe current commands and navigation are quite unfriendly for my eyes, so if i wait for GC to repair at least those problems i will avoid a lot of frustration. Why should i be unkind to myself when there is already someone in the comment section who i do not even know but who has decided to assume that chore?â
