Tiffany the master of selective reading. Her fantasy will be popped when she sees Luann hobble in with a foot cast. “Break? Was that what Jack was talking about? Not a break-UP?? Ohhhh noooooo!” Pan in to a swoon.
Today’s strip defies all logic. Why does Jack send flowers to Luann at work when she’s still in hospital? Oh, yes, I forgot! Same reason we never solved the TV mystery or the broken vending machine. Same reason we still don’t know who’s in room 213. Just another plot device!
Aah…the right words to say…. In the wrong hands. A slightly different version of “the Telephone Game”, even. Let’s sit back and watch how this ‘movie’ ends…..
Perhaps Luann will see her flowers after all. Tiff will be sure to shove them right in front of her. She probably won’t even realize that Luann has a broken foot until after.
Schrodinger’s Dog and others who complain about my posts: Today’s strip is less than a minute away from yesterday’s strip. Sunday’s strip was a stand-alone, so Saturday’s strip had to be the most recent step in time – and that was the strip in which Luann announced that she was, indeed, in hospital. Luann out of the hospital? Able to return to work? That is what appears to be the assumption here. And I maintain, it makes no sense.
Other than to incite the expected cat fight between Luann and Tiffany. And, let’s face it – judging by the posts, you guys are just salivating at the prospect of that cat fight. “Comeuppance” as a word was used at least once, and appears to be the expectation of most other posts.
This strip has become little more than pushing boys into girls’ faces, girls into boys’ faces and, if that gets a little boring, let’s get the girls jealous of each other while we’re at it.
And yet, so many of you like it. Hundreds of you. I just don’t get it. And honestly, I’m trying to be respectful and understanding. But I just don’t get it! What is the attraction of these train wreck relationships?
@CHEAPSKATE0: Not everyone here is salivating over a ‘cat fight’. I’m disappointed to see Luann finally deciding to just ‘go with the flow’ and try to enjoy some social time with someone (without worrying about an intense relationship), but all she gets is a broken foot. And now, apparently, she will be in for some fake sympathy from someone who liked fighting with her in high school. It would be nice to see some positive things happening for a change, but I guess I’m in the minority there…
Since Jack had the flowers delivered to Luann and Tiffany’’s work site, I assume he assumes she is out of the hospital; indeed, it was probably just an Emergency Room visit and quick release after she got her cast (if she got one). But it takes very special creative and (even more) willful thinking for Tiff to interpret the card’s message as meant to refer to a breakup celebrated with roses….
arrggghh… I suppose this is Greg’s specialty………. tangled webs, confusion and misunderstanding. OK…but what we still don’t know is whether Luann has come in to work today. Is she in the back with the kids or at home convalescing?
I’m guessing that Luann hasn’t yet arrived. If she had then Tiff would have seen her on crutches or with a foot boot and been able to interpret Jack’s card more accurately. Perhaps tomorrow…….
1. Makes no sense to send the flowers to Luann’s job.2. No one would write “sorry for the break” so that doesn’t make sense either.3. The last time Luann had a storyline that wasn’t about boys was her trip to NYC so this is just stale.
Wow! What happened? All of the sudden, I can scroll through the full list of comics, without having to click on a letter of the alphabet. Of course, the pictures accompanying the name of the comic is missing, but I like this return to greater freedom. MCGA? But I’m sure it’s only temporary, and we’ll be back in limited mobility soon…
“Kids First” is an after-school program so the earliest Tiffany would be in the office would be Monday afternoon. Luann’s bowling night was Friday evening. Broken bones are usually wired up and put in a cast and the patient sent home. So come Monday afternoon Luann would be at home getting hooked on vicoden. Why Jack sent flowers to Luann’s work place and not to her home makes no sense. And why should he know that she works at the Kids First program? Like so much of the storytelling in recent years there’s no logic or continuity to things.
@BEB01: Jack met Tiffany when he came to visit Luann at work, so he does know where she works. And if he left the hospital before she did (she probably went home with her parents), he might not know that she isn’t at work.

More ambiguity. But, then again, to Tiff a lot of things seem ambiguous, even if it is obvious.

Someone needs to tell tiffany what happens when you assume. Plus she needs to call luann and tell her someone delivered her flowers.
