I am married to a nurse who likes to cook. She can make the good stuff taste good. My issue isn’t with eating too much bad food; it’s with eating too much good food.
Nonetheless, after 53 years of trying, she still can’t do anything to broccoli to make me like it. I’ve tried it prepared just about any way it could be prepared. I re-try it every now and then. I still hate it as much as I did when I was 5. Some scientists claim that the dislike of broccoli is genetic. There’s a gene that causes it.
I would much rather have natural, organic butter than the plastic goop they call margarine. My dad told stories about the early days of margarine, when it came white with a dye packet to mix in to make it appear like butter. It was apparently a measure of skillful housewifery to be able to mix in the dye without leaving streaks, or pockets of intense color surrounded with white “plastic”. (And this is from a man whose mother baked and cooked with lard…)

Too bad that isn’t butter. Butter never comes in a tub. The nasty, non-melting margarine comes in a tub, he can have MY share! Ick!

The sad thing is for a snack the other day I had the same craving and sat down and ate half a box of Saltines with margarine.

Betty Botter bought some buter
But the butter Betty Botter bought was bitter
The bitter butter Betty Botter bought made Betty Botter’s batter bitter
So Betty Botter bought some better butter
Better butter made Betty Botter’s batter better
Or something like that
