Man that ball sure had a long hang time. Plus it looks like Chuck is coming from the opposite direction of the ball, a strong back draft from the outfield fences must have pushed it back ;). Chalk up another loss for Chuck as starting pitcher and manager.
Question: did Chuck ever officially win a ball game? I know the team tended to win when Chuck was sick or otherwise unable to participate but I cannot recall a time he actually won except the time they had the short kid Rerun and he drew a bases loaded walk to win. However, Chuck soon learned Snoopy bet on the game and they had to forfeit for gambling, according to the “commish” at his bicycle repair shop…..
Surely Charlie knows by now not to set up a feminism question especially during the game. Of course, where’s the fun in being sensible. Best to keep on being a dunce head and get the laughs. Afterall, Charles and Lucille are the cartoon world’s version of Burns and Allen.
In my mother language Heroin(e) is the name of a dangerous narcotic, a drug, no girl would like to be called a “Heroine” here, but on the other side also almost nobody is playing baseball here.
This is why Lucy shouldn’t play baseball. She thinks somehow that she can have the ball levitate mid-air while she talks about her nickname. Lucy, do better.

…and then…she just STANDS THERE…looking for the ball.

She in fact, didn’t become a heroine.

Catch the ball first, then argue about the grammar.

Title card, a lot of pitcher’s say that when the ball is heading over the outfield fence.

Her stand was bigger than catching the ball, though.

Now it would be hero or you’re sexist. The paper has birthdays and everyone is an “actor” regardless of gender. “Actress” is sexist, Good Grief!!

It is called FOCUS. Lucy is focused on her gender; Chuck is focused on eventually snapping his losing streak.

CB ran all the way to the outfield, should have just caught it himself!!

I’m sorry, but I blame Charlie Brown for this error. He should’ve kept his mouth shut and let Lucy (try to) catch the ball.

Last week, I went to baseball game for our local minor league team. I said to a friend that I hoped their outfielder weren’t like Lucy.

I think the whole heroine thing got dropped, and hero is now genderless. Better that way. Gotta account for the non-binary buds.

I came down to the comments section expecting a lot of gender-ish nonsense, and boy oh boy, did I get it! (Girl oh girl?) Lighten up, Karens!

That’s ok Lucy. Now you are the loser and that is not gender specific.

She’s still looking up at the sky for the ball to fall. That sharp-eyed Lucy doesn’t miss a thing.
