Makes me think of so many people I’ve seen on TV being introduced as “celebrities” and I have no idea who they are and sometimes little knowledge of what they’re famous for. These days, the population is so large, and there are so many TV channels and shows, streaming, podcasts… that many people can have large followings and yet be unknown to most people. Oh yes, and there’s more global entertainment, too.

Don’t quit your day job, Reed.

A little googling showed that Reed Jackson is indeed his editor. But it also shows that Rat tried to kill him once before.

though Pastis could draw more supportive animal cohorts. This is becoming an Animal House w/o Belushi.

Is this Pastis going to “stick” around for a while?!

The guy can correctly spell his first name. That’s better than many commenters.

From the Mel Brooks version of “To Be Or Not To Be…”
Mel plays an egocentric actor. Ann Bancroft is his wife.
It’s Poland, 1940. Anne has been detained by the Gestapo.
“You can’t hold me! My husband is Pavel Kowalski!”
Gestapo officer: “And who is Pavel Kowalski?”
“You never heard of Pavel Kowalski? In Poland he’s world famous!”

The art style is spot on… but where’s the pun?

They got off the sidewalk and into the street. They’re after you, Pastis. Be paranoid. Be more paranoid. There.

Comic strip creators don’t get a lot of recognition. Unless your initials happen to be Jim Davis, Bill Watterson or Charles Schultz.

The artwork is actually better than what’s happening in Gil Thorp these days.

Ask them over at Jane’s World who Stephan Pastis is. They all know. “Shallow breast guy,” that’s who.

Two of the many things I love about this strip are Stephan’s self-deprecating humor, and of course, PUNS! :D

If this is truly what Reed drew, I am fascinated at the raw honesty in this strip.
