Well, this is new. I thought slang was groovy when I was young enough to know what it meant. Now that I’m so far out of the loop, I have to side with Elvis. This is too far out, man!
My wife swears that our cats prefer halibut cheeks to any other fish. They were in the other day, so I bought an extra quarter pound. Sure enough, as soon as she brought them into the room, they came running! To me they do not have much smell, but to Motley and Lucy it’s a different story.
Okay I feel really old and out of the loop: what are “lit” and “extra” meant to mean? I still think the phrase, “Dude! That’s freakin’ heavy!” still crystallizes something being mind-blowing purrfectly, but that’s just me. Or how about “way cool!”? :D
I work with teenagers in the midwest, and I’ve never heard any one of them say heckin fire or it slaps. Is that from a different region of the country?
Cool, Far out, groovy, Fuzz, slug-bug, shotgun…are some of the slang terms from my youth. Thinking back, my parents must have had Elvis’s reaction a lot of the time.
day 4 of Ally the new addition,, 1 oopsy, on my bed, couldn’t run to the back up potty pan fast enough. It’s ok, it was only 2 am, why not change the sheets at that hour? But then, she wanted to play. yawn
Foster cat update: he got neutered but was discovered with coccidia. I’m giving him meds for it. He’s still cleared to be adopted. Wish me luck getting him adopted. I’m getting attached to him faster than BCN got attached to Beatrix.
There is one other problem. He doesn’t like the dry food I provide. But he devours the wet food. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Thus saith the doctors in Baltimore: no surgery recommended at this time. Instead, they recommend that, basically, I continue doing what I’m doing in terms of pain management and physical therapy … except for the part where I need to be a little more disciplined about actually doing the physical therapy more days than not. I am also being referred to a couple of doctors local to me to for routine monitoring and pain management.
Added bonus … nothing to contraindicate me continuing on the race course as long as I can tolerate doing so.
And now … back to my insurance-billing workshop that I’m attending today. Joy.
After the coming home from the vet yesterday I let all the fur babies see Miscreant one last time. Jasper seemed to be the most affected. He tried to wake him and after he couldn’t he whimpered for awhile. Miscreant’s best kitty friend Ichy, who is the same age and came from the same breeder and they grew up together is really missing him too. She hasn’t left me since yesterday. I guess we all have new roles to fill and the hierarchy of the cats has been upset so they have to work it out now. I just have trouble sleeping with no Miscreant on my ribs.
So, I have been writing a story these last few months. I have over 100 pages in Word completed and more to come. It’s not about cats, so not really something to share here (besides being way too long), but I have been going back and rereading it every so often and finding some funny mistakes I made.
For example, at one point, I had written “wring” instead of “writing” (as in: a character was “wring” a letter) and in another, I wrote a sentence, but left out an important bit that was needed for the sentence to even make any sense. Being my own editor doesn’t really work very well. I find errors every time I reread it. LOL
Oh well, I’m just doing this for my own personal enjoyment, so I guess it’s ok.
I think Beatrix’s desire for independence, her sassiness and her use of slang is Georgia’s way of showing us our little girl is growing up. She’s gone from cuddly kitten to tween queen. (Yes, autocorrect, sassiness IS a real word. I did not mean classiness, brassiness, or assassinates!)
This bothers me so much on the news. Even using “kids” and “cops” bothers me, or using the wrong title for a job (using the word “agent” instead of “officer” or a similar switch) really gets on my nerves.

Don’t worry, Elvis. Modern slang confuses me, too. Thank Burt for those translations!

Elvis may be lit, Lupine, but if he gets ahold of you, you’ll pick up a slightly different definition of it slaps.
