Ooooh, dear. Lupin’s nature reports never go down well with the station owners.

For a moment there I thought someone had paint on his paws again.

What are the odds that “hork” will appear in tomorrow’s headline?

If the humans here weren’t such saints, Lupin would be looking for a new home.

Lupin’s nature reports don’t often go down well in his stomach either.

Lupin’s green fur on his face and paws give him away. Not that he is denying this dastardly plant munching deed.

I totally misread the ‘T’ & ‘I’ in “T.G.I.F” which actually made more sense until I realised this was a family strip!

I just finished a trilogy of novels about the space program, and Lupin, you can’t out-acronym the space program. Can’t be done.

(Novels are hugely recommended, by the way: they are The Calculating Stars, The Fated Sky, and the new The Relentless Moon, by Mary Robinette Kowal. Engaging, resonant, well-researched. I’m tears and cheers the whole way through.)

After all this time you would think that The Woman would have learned that all plants are doomed.

This is the window of opportunity for people to make suggestions as to “healthy” plants to have around cats. But it is late at night and all I can think of is the Lily plant that is about to bloom… and I am glad that it is an outdoor plant!!!

Cat journalist vandalises poor plant. When will these silly hyoomans learn that dogs are their true friends and adopt us instead? I’ll have at least 3 catnip plants in my greenhouse. One in the house, one recovering, and one just in case.

Ok.. please don’t think I’m strange.. I still miss Pepper so very much :( I swear, he told me to look at our local pound page, which I never do, because my heart breaks. So I saw a beautiful boofy black cat that looked like Pepper. We went to meet him, and sadly he doesn’t like other animals. Ok.. there’s another black cat. We take Sheba to meet him. He hisses at her AND the husband! :(

I was going to suggest that the Woman install them as hanging plants then I realized that Lupin would just view that as an extra challenge.

Even if delicious, next thing you know you’ll be barfing it up, Lupin. Try not to hit the shoes or the bed. And another thing, “this girl”? That’s your adoptive mommy you’re talking about! Show some respect!

Burt-Ra: I’m going to take them to Cosmo’s Nursery for Trevor-Hotep. I’ve got a brand new tomato plant for him. It makes delicious fried green tomatoes (Thomosis is making some for dinner tonight), a lovely salad when ripe and…It looks like Elvis-Anum will have a lovely green ink for his scrolls.

Oh, I know that frown! It’s the one I made when Viola ripped off the caulking in the corners (plural) of my brand new tile shower—twice! My contractor friend was annoyed and now we have to keep the bathroom door shut always.

Today is Tell an Old Joke Day. I could, but they are all shaggy dog jokes.

It is also Cousins Day. My father was one of thirteen, all good Catholics except him and the nun. My mother was one of four. Just do the math. God bless and keep my cousins—far away from me (I’m the black sheep. BAAAAAA! humbug.)

Not to be outdone, it is also National Thermal Engineers Day. May they live long and perspire.

Today is Amelia Earhart Day. While perhaps not the greatest pilot, she was smart, brave, resourceful, independent, and accomplished in both an area of endeavor and a society in which misogyny was endemic.

National Drive-Thru Day … I think I’ll pass …

Finally, in honor of National Tequila Day and Old Joke Day, my favorite brand of tequila is Old Gods Chthulu Tequila: The worm eats you.

Lupin reminds me of Jim Carrey in ‘The Mask.’

There is a new-ish black cat hanging around near the front porch. According to Jora she used to try to come around for meals while Lily was alive but Lily would run her off. I’ve seen her lounging under the car and I’ve seen black hairs in the cat house so it seems she is using that as well. She runs whenever she sees us start to head in her direction so I don’t know if she’ll ever get to the point of letting us get near her. Needless to say, calling her “her” is just a guess at this time. In any case, she is welcome to hang out as long as she wants. She hasn’t given us a name yet.

The look on her face is hilarious.

By now Georgia should have learned not to try keeping indoor plants.

At the moment not worrying about T.P.W.D., they’ve all been planted in the garden outside. Well, not worrying about DC doing so (to a much lesser extent, not worrying about Smokey and Bandit doing so either, though we weren’t having them jump up and trying to feast on baby tomato and squash plants either). Bunnies and deer are another matter.

Speaking of which, just had a couple young bucks visiting a three days ago. Thankfully they didn’t treat themselves to our garden, just to the lawn across the street. Though they did cross the street into our yard and headed into the woods behind the house. But it was a nice site to see.

And now it’s time for the EPIC FROWN.

LOL! This is why I don’t have houseplants. I had a few, but when I adopted my kitten, Oliver, he ate them all. He stayed with my sister for a while a few years later and ate all of her plants too.
