What, and leave us all dangling about HOW THEY MET? And WHAT THEY SEE in the spalien (and vice versa). Also important: How did the reporter get to the wedding… and even more important, get BACK?
There are plenty of voters… I mean people, who much prefer an agreeable fiction to dreary old reality and the truth. That easily explains a lot of election results… I mean the popularity of supermarket tabloids.
Don’t believe it. An Elvis clone couldn’t have 2 heads, or it wouldn’t be a clone. Unless Elvis had 2 heads all along and one was hidden when he played Vegas.
I miss the Weekly World News they used to have at the supermarket checkout counter. Great way to pass the time while the lady with 3 shopping carts ahead of you is s.l.o.o.o.w.l.y unloading her stuff.
There’s a lot left to explain. Which head gets the kiss at the altar? Is the alien from Mars or Venus? Was the Best Man and Maid of Honor one and the same?
I always picked one of the “Digest” articles on the second or third page about a wild animal eating as hiker. My take on the article was (and this was the mid-60s) “humans are their territory and if they get attacked it is the human’s fault.” Followed shortly by a note from my teacher to my parents. Mom asked for an explanation, wrote, “well, she’s right.” signed it and sent it back to school the next day.
Who cloned Elvis? Is they (two-head must be singular-plural, right?) still in Memphis? What has The King to say about that? And why is that not the real news?

Isn’t marrying a two-headed person technically bigamy?
The Calvinosaurus That Calvin Wanted To Discover over 3 years ago
Miss Wormwood never said it couldn’t be fiction.

Nice loophole, but it won’t give him a passing grade.

Calvin just pointed out a flaw. “Not much to explain”. The point of essays is nothing BUT explanations.
sirbadger over 3 years ago
Calvin found a news article that is more believable than “Trump won in 2020.”
Baarorso over 3 years ago
Calvin, did you really have to use the “Weekly World News” as your newspaper source? ;/

It was on MSNBC and CNN so thousands of people believe it because they believe anything on there.

Well, this comic was first published in 1991 so supermarket tabloids were still an easy source of BS before the Internet and social media.

2 versions of normal here. If you read it and laugh, you are normal. And nowadays, if you read it and believe it you are normal.

I remember having to do something like that in 4th grade. I don’t remember the story I chose.

Would like to hear Calvin’s “explanation”…
dflak over 3 years ago
This was probably funny back when it was published, but when I hear what comes out the mouths of some of our elected officials, it’s tame.

Why does the Associated Press (AP) write EXPLAINER stories? Do they believe we are all Calvin’s age?
JohnTheFoole over 3 years ago
Right! So where did Calvin find a copy of the Weekly World news?
tripwire45 over 3 years ago
I hope kids aren’t made to discuss current events in school anymore. It’s bad enough on social media.

I don’t know. Maybe there is something in there that explains if it is legal for clones to marry.

Calling tabloids newspapers is a really big stretch.

So – have they got the bugs worked out of that whole Elvis cloning thing yet?
m5bishop5 over 3 years ago
Why did I never think of getting a supermarket tabloid (or as the MIB call them “Hot Sheets”) article for current events when I was in school?

And that’s where rap “music” came from.

I don’t think supermarket tabloids would be accepted. (And who buys those anyway? Somehow there’s a reason they still sell them.)
