Really this is just a restatement of Daniel Webster’s “There is always room at the top.” You may be very good at a thing or not so much, but so long as you’re better at it than others it doesn’t matter how crowded the field is.
In short, The Peter Principal. In an organization, a person rises to his level of incompetence.For this to work, however, everyone “under” him must be less competent. This also includes Vice-Presidents.
