I don’t see where she would be a benefit in ANY situation.

At first I thought “How could she NOT know what that specific phrase meant?” Then I remembered with embarrassment using a phrase that I thought was a description of ONE action, but it literally meant something entirely different. Somebody said “Maybe he doesn’t know what it means.” But with Tiff – I don’t know – she’s so clueless and self absorbed, I don’t think she knows a come-on, if she fell over it.

^Some talk the talk, some walk the walk… Tiff does a lot of talking…. the same way with Facebook… they like the attention they get from putting pics out there, or saying things to get into people’s minds, but then they don’t want that attention…. Tiff goes near the edge, but she’s just about “the show”… all style, no substance….

This really is boring and predictable.

Not integral to the plot. Our appreciation of Brad and Toni’s relationship is not really dependent on us knowing whether or not they’ve done the deed. The case could be made either way, and their relationship would still be believable. Yes, there are some couples who do actually wait until they’re married. But with Tiffany, Greg Evans apparently felt the reference to “benefits” was necessary to show just how desperate she is.

Lets face it… Tiffany … Oops , I mean Sheraton has done it with everyone in Pitts. She’s drama material alright, but the category has three x’s in front of it.

And don’t forget that the term is also there as part of a word-play, here… Being a “Queen of ulterior motives”, Tiff can also accomplish what she wants by “killing two birds with one stone”…. or even three… One-upping Lu, seeking attention, and the bonus of “landing someone that she actually wants underneath it all”…. well, that’s her hopes and ambitions, anyway….

Being your friend has no benefits, Tiffany.

“she was deeply insulted and that was the end of their relationship.”^Yeah, I’ve seen that kind, too… ==But I’ve met some personally, in high school (a little past 20 years ago for me), who would flirt, and even kiss a guy, but then in a matter of weeks (sometimes even days), will have moved on, either due to “being bored” with them, or having got what they wanted (like getting their homework done, or buying them something and then ditching them, or the like…==I’ve also seen them do it, because they knew some other girl was liking them (even their so-called best friend, and just wanted to put on a show as if to say “So what? I can get his attention, too”… all while not really “liking liking him”……some guys would think that even that “fake” attention is cool, but I’ve had girls that I was friends with get in those “Jerry Springer” type of fights between themselves, some just with arguments, some worse…. and all for what? (Some have done a 360 since HS, I can gladly say)….==I guess to sum up, I am saying that I definitely agree with you that it happens the way that it happened with your son’s then-girlfriend, but also that it’s not the only motive that some out there have in “hanging all on them”… some just wanted to be seen as though “keeping status”, even propagating rumors about their own selves, just to cover up the truth, that they aren’t as “exciting” as the persona they feel that they have to portray to either get ahead, or to be regarded as “in”….

I think Tiff would go all the way with Quill, though she hasn’t likely with anyone else (or we’d hear more about her reputation, I’d imagine, and she’s specifically denied having sex in the past), because then she’d be taking him away from Luann in the most meaningful (to her) sense. Tiff was into Quill from the very beginning and was always angry about Luann taking him away from HER. So she’s seeking closure—as it were—with him, and revenge against Luann. Plus, Quill is “safe”—he’s 8000 miles away most of the time, and a furtive fling in a situation unlikely to happen again would probably suit her fine. No chance of him just popping up and bugging her or smearing her at school. This would work out very well for Tiff.

Quill’s an idiot for even standing next to Luann’s arch enemy. Even if this goes no further, Tiff’s just got some ammunition. If he doesn’t give her the brush-off big time, he will regret ever meeting both Tiff and Luann.

I guess also in the same way that Tiffany Farrell may feel that she is not as exciting or alluring as her alter ego of “Sheraton St. Louis” (I guess part of the same reason some have to choose a stage name to help their career, e.g. Cary Grant is more “relevant” in name than “Archie Leach”, his given name)…. she is a bit insecure, though she puts on a good façade…Even though somewhere in her is someone that can really go places, if she could just learn to see that…. this drama camp could help with that…. could (if she’d make use of her time there, to get something out of it.)….

No one can be so naive that they use the phrase ‘FWB’ without knowing what it means. Someone who continually criticizes other girls for their alleged lack of skill at using makeup is definitely using sex as a lure. T’s use of this phrase was in character with other actions in past.

IAmJayBlueE above makes a good point; Greg has always run a family-friendly strip, and Tiffany could truly be living out fantasies in her mind that would panic her if stuff ever got real. That said, if Tiffany and her attitudes were anything close to real life, she has probably already been with the entire varsity football team, so I suspect you may be right.

Tiff is obviously sexually active as she wants the “Friends with benefits” arrangement, and she brought lingerie to wear to seduce Quill. Perhaps Mr. Evans can do a storyline on teen pregnancy by Tiff getting knocked up.

That said, I do not want Tiff’s victory to arrive due to her use of sex as a lure, but instead by outwitting and out maneuvering Luann^^Lev, Tiff couldn’t outwit a dept. store mannequin!

“The Brad/Toni duo is always integral to the plot, not matter what the current arc.” What I mean is it’s not integral to the Brad/Tony story for us to know if they’re intimate or not. Maybe they are, maybe not, but either way, since it doesn’t necessarily advance their story, why bring it up? Just for titillation? This is a higher quality strip than that. But Tiffany’s sex life (or possible actual lack thereof) does move the current arc along, so it’s fair game.

It’s a wierd world when we can casually discuss the sexual activity of a (fictional) 16 year old girl, but when somebody makes a brief comment referencing their concept of the Supreme Being, they get shouted down.

I don’t know that Crystal would help that actively in a scheme. She goes along, but she prefers to think of herself as above that stuff.

It looks to me like Party has a pretty good handle on the controversy.

There was nothing there that made it clear she was doing anything other than trying to get him to make himself vulnerable.

Knute and Crystal may or may not have been active together. They also may or may not have either or both been active with other people.

It does make a difference, but not any difference that couldn’t have played out either way in the story as we’ve seen it. There is one story that people who imagine them with a sex life read, there is a slightly different story that the people who imagine them celibate read. Both are legitimately there.

Similarly, even Brad and Toni do not have sex together, it has also not been made explicit that Brad never had any experience between Diane and her. We know he carried a condom around. We don’t know if he dated after she left.

That is what I am saying. Knute has slacker appeal. Some girls like that. They are not girls who place a high priority on following rules their parents gave them.

The idea of Brad and Diane is, as you say, laughable. The idea of Brad and some person we never met is unlikely, but not impossible. The idea of Aaron and Diane amuses me so much I can hardly stand it. Now I am wanting them to ultimately end up together.

Have you ever checked out some of the guys who are getting, um, action in real life? and I’m not talking about from gutter hos. Knute getting a little sumpin sumpin is not beyond the realm of possibility.

I’d like to think Tiffany is just flirting outrageously with Quill. Knowing that Luann’s relationship with him is deepening ups the ante. She must be bold now or all hope is lost. I believe Tiffany is playing with fire, but I do not think she is any less ‘loose’ than Luann. Remember, Tiffany has shown an attachment to Quill since she met the guy. He is someone very special to her, and if love makes some sexy talk from Luann all right, then Tiffany ought to be pardoned as well. Sure Quill doesn’t reciprocate, but Tiff ‘loves’ him as much as Tiff is ready to love anyone, which admittedly is messed up with her immaturity, narcissism, and youth. @Leviticus: You are right, I’d like Tiff to be a little more childlike myself. I think with the recent story where everyone was thinking about the possibility of Luann and Quill having sex, we as readers might be hypersensitive to what Tiffany is saying today, so soon after that. Or it might just be me. But by opening the door to Quill and Luann’s intimate possibilities, the whole nature of the Luannaverse has changed. If it’s possible for Luann, why shouldn’t we assume Tiff is also serious? I don’t know the answer to that. I will just have faith in her, and if she falls from grace, will forgive her even so:)

Judging by most of the time he’s spend with his current girlfriend, she should try bickering with him about stupid nonsense and frustrating him with insistence that they remain just friends.

Let’s not sell Knute too short here. He has his appeal. I would have been interested in a kind, funny, cheerful, gentlemanly slacker type like Knute when I was in high school. Not for long term, but definitely for having some fun.

I’m beginning to smell a rat with Luann’s drama camp ‘rejection’ letter. I wonder if Tiff dropped by Luann’s mailbox before Luann did?

I wonder if this will be a two week treatment, and what the next arc in line will be…. maybe back to Bern, or Delta?==Also, I still wonder if this camp will just be a run of the mill random event in the major scope of the Luanniverse, or if this will be the setting for any major developments (outside of this opening week)? ….Maybe these things are the precursor to the “make it or break it” of Lu and Quill… or maybe just an “ordinary summer”, where once this is over, it will be back to the "same ol’ same ol’…. as same ol’ as some things there can get……

I was thinking there would be some changes, too… I had thought that there would be shakeup with Luann and Quill, in some form, with this camp, perhaps even some misunderstanding from Luann, over Quill due to possible “trust” issues (whether real or imagined)…. of course, time proves all…==The other scenarios you put forth would sound plausible, too… I guess it’d be time for another Luann metamorphisis, maybe even another physical change for Luann…. I also thought that there was a chance that Quill’d be gone, but I found that the Facebook page chose the image of he and Luann from last week, as the cover…. which makes me think that there are more immediate plans for Quill, at least for the temporary… but of course, it’s all up to what Greg decides, as always….
