Happy Sunday you all!Well, Alldid is All Done! And, yes, twas a foregone conclusion, I think. Not that Alldid seems discouraged, on the contrary, he seems turned on by it!
Sorry, she coulda been a heck of a lot nicer than THAT….just like she could’ve with Sparkle before…..I’d have no trouble assigning the “B” word to her at times, lol…
Mysta Chimera let mister masher off rather easy, with just a little jolt rather than the really heavy electro-artillery. And as he is coming around, he’s no less sleazy. Maybe she should have fried him more thoroughly the first time, to prevent future harassment….
The Sunday LimerickVera’s captured by Mysta’s allure, names a comic strip she finds obscure.Though his planned love connectionis met with rejection,he still gets a charge out of her.
Another great poem, Pequod (and a good one from Jonathan). Vera may be “all done” for the moment, but you can be sure she’s not going to get rid of him that easily.
Gweedo: (Undo Collins’ damage) Let’s hope so!.Vera: As your sole defender in this forum, you let me down!.Mindy: Beware! There are those who might say what you did was assault!.Last, and certainly least: From the look on Vera’s face, look for a new DT crossover: Ignatz and Krazy Kat!.Love that mouse!
Retik should now grab him and tell him that if he continues to annoy the young lady. That he will take him in back of the set and teach him an even stronger lesson in proper manners!
Snap Krackle Pop, and Vera is still without a clue.Nice work, Pequod77! I hope Vera is indeed “all done,” but it sounds like he’s just getting started.
I don’t care much for Vera as a character either; his “full-of-himself” attitude is unpleasant. But, in this case, what did he actually do? He approached a woman (in a somewhat unwelcome manner) and tried to ask her out. So, a simple “no, thanks” would suffice. Just because she’s “Moon Maid”, everybody falls all over themselves defending her actions, but, really, he didn’t even touch her or anything. How does that justify electrocuting the guy?
I think this studio may need a “Costumes Are Not Consent” sign. As with the smokers in this series, the “masher who gets slapped” joke hails back to earlier times in comics when that was a standard thing.
Much like Pepe le Pew’s comeuppance in “Wild About You,” where a female wildcat fights back against his advances. Pepe is left dazed and disheveled, but… “I LIKE EET!”
Haha, a shocking development for Vera!If people are going to go after Mysta for this, I suppose to be consistent they’d better go after Sparkle for punching out the same guy, with less provocation no less:http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2011/11/20
Mysta knows how to deal with misbehaved miscreants. Sneaking into someone’s workplace to make unwanted advances is uncalled for. Shocking, even. Lil’ Delinquent knows the score:
Thanks to VistaBill, Gweedo, Neil Wick, Willy007, Ray Toler, TraderJoe and JPuzzleWhiz for the kind words. Much appreciated!
Gweedo, I was thinking that when I looked at today’s installment. I never met SDM, and hope never to get the opportunity, but I had the vision that he is alot like Vera. I’d bet money on it! Having dealt with Mattie “offstage”, I can promise you there’s a correlation there!
I’ve been away on vacation for the last two weeks, so I haven’t been able to see the comments (but have been following the strip)—does anyone else think that Vera is going to be murdered by someone soon, with a number of suspects to be had?
Mike brought the character of Mysta back in a very creative way. The “dead means dead” folk got their way, while the many enthusiastic fans of Mysta now have the tremendous pleasure of seeing one of Gould’s very best creations returned to the strip. Memory is identity (and this is a comic strip). Mindy is indeed dead and gone. Her memories were wiped by the doctors. Mysta’s mysterious Lunarian DNA was introduced, the repercussions of which are demonstrably ongoing. Her personality was infused into the physical host and the transformations continue. It has now been some time since the doctors completed their work. Mysta Chimera is a fabulous character in Dick Tracy. I haven’t enjoyed the strip this much since I was a kid.. While many of us were initially unhappy with the manner by which the camel was eased through the eye of the needle, the brilliance of Mike’s choice soon became apparent. Mysta is a fascinating changeling. She is building a relationship with Honeymoon, while posing no threat to Junior and Sparkle’s marriage. The strip is compelling and is attracting so many new fans that the latest reprint of Gould’s work (Volume 16, 1956-1958) is temporarily out of stock. .BobOscar made a very thoughtful comment the other day: “I know what it’s like to get hooked on a series that started decades before you were born, to get into it right as it’s starting a bold, new, controversial direction that many older fans hate but you personally love and enjoy…” Spot on. The excellent work of Team Tracy has restored the strip to its former glory in so many ways. They tap into all eras. Even as fans of the 1960s era celebrate, those who dread a return to the moon can rest easy: Diet Smith has scrubbed his moon tech and sent the Space Coupe into deep space. Old and new fans alike have much to enjoy and appreciate.
This is great, Mike & Joe, and Thank You PQ77 and VB for your ongoing fan loyalty…I Love You Mysta Moon Maid Batgirl…I feel Zapped by Your Power in this Hour..
HA HA! What a hoot! I loved the comedy aspect of today’s strip! the last panel is great! I would like to see more of this in the strip, perhaps with the Plenty’s! The artwork and costume are excellent! Good job Joe & Mike on a great Sunday page. This is a keeper!
I realize this will put me in the minority, but I have always liked the Vera Alldid character and glad that Team Tracy has brought him back. It’s a mix of characters that make a strip exciting. So Vera is a Cad, that’s okay. He sure made the last couple days of strip interesting and fun!
A lot of great comments today. Mysta always creates some excitement and she’s looking fetching in her costume for The Moon Maid movie. I must correct my error: that is Lil’ Dropout catching a lil’ lightening bolt to his backside. He now knows better than to toss a snowball at Mysta. Has Vera learned his lesson or does he need another Krackle?
Someone said it yesterday: “I don’t want to see Dick Tracy turn into a ‘super-hero’ comic strip.”But look at that penultimate panel. A beautiful woman in a skin-tight costume, with a cape flowing in the wind, with super zapping powers! Something no one would be surprised to find at DC or Marvel. But it sure feels foreign to Dick Tracy!Just my humble opinion, of course. Joe’s art is spectacular, and the colors are a joy to look at. Might as well enjoy the ride, and hope to see some more traditional Dick Tracy action in the “Annie” story coming up in June.
I think Vera should have been a ittle more lascive than that to deserve that zap. Anyway, he seemed to like it, who knows what the future awaits? Now, if they could just put her in a tiger skin bikini, she would be BIG in Japan!
For example, her costume was dominantly purple, whereas in the comic book, the dominant color was black (and she didn’t have a utility belt in the comics like she did on the show, but a weapons bag).
It seems that Mysta favours the colour purple in all her clothes, so I suppose this costume is typical for her.
Thanks for the nice comments, Pequod77 and Chris Jackson. And to be praised by such a brilliant poster like Pequod77 feels like high praise, indeed. :)^@JPuzzleWhiz, the cast for both TT cartoons is exactly the same. Hynden, like the rest of the cast with their characters, voiced Starfire in both cartoons.
