Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be

email for more details.
A very interesting development! I wonder where it will go. By the way, the neighbourhood around Diet Smith Industries seems quite prone to thunderstorms. At least, thunderstorms have been a major plot device twice in recent years.
As I recall, the original Philadelphia Experiment was supposed to be about invisibility, either to visual wavelengths or radar, although one variant of the legend had to do with time travel. The story goes that after the ship rematerialized, men were found stuck between bulkheads. Of course nothing was ever substantiated.
Wow! Here I was expecting a crossover between Dick Tracy and Little Orphan Annie, but it looks more like a crossover between Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annie, and Alley Oop, with the possibility of a little Gasoline Alley thrown in for good measure!
I do hope that Diet Smith Industries is at least a few years away from practical applications of time travel, because if some of us find Dick Tracy plots a bit confusing now, imagine what they might be like when any character, from any era, even if completely dead, might show up again! Oyy, my head aches (just like Janewayâs, AtomivDog)!
I predict that by the end of this storyline, one of the villains will be trapped in the Jurassic Era, or at least have it implied thatâs where they ended up.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint â itâs more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly⊠time-y wimey⊠stuff.
Coldsooner already mentioned it, but the first thing I thought of this morning is: âMystery Shipâ! So Mike really was referencing Blues Image yesterday. The next thing I thought of has also been mentioned by fellow readers, but it bears repeating: If Diet really was all that concerned about the possible bad side effects of his Magnetic Space Coupe, how does it not occur to him that messing with time travel might not be such a good idea? But, if we read the dialog carefully yesterday and today, he didnât actually say it was time travel. He talks about sending his video camera from a place where it was raining to a place where it was sunny and blue sky. That could be an experiment with teleporting. or something. It was Tracy who jumped on the time travel idea, unless, there was dialog off panel where Diet said âThis is our experiment with time travelâIf it is time travel, then Dietâs remark to Oliver about Moon Gear yesterday â âThatâs all in the pastâ â takes on a double meaning!
I read the comic, get a good idea for a comment (both here and over at âNancyâ), then find someoneâs beaten me to it. What, you folks staying up until midnight for the daly change of panels or something? ;-)
maybe they can go back in time and get Chester Gould or Fletcher & Collins to start writing again, This is a bit too much of a stretch even WITH suspension of disbelief.
Hey wait, now that I think about it.. maybe Tracy can go back in time and actually solve some of his OWN cases without outside help! Thinkn about it⊠he oculd actually find and apprehend the nitrates BEFORE they end up in the river (or he could stick around long enough to find out where they went!) he could alert Uncle Ray and Bonnie NOT to accept the invitation from Abner and apprehend BOTH abner and blackjack (and hell why not throw rikki mortis in there too), stop tabby angus from escaping, apprehend mrs flattop, bb eyes, mumbles, prevent diet from sending ghote, sail and the sputnik clod into space, prevent ghote and sail from creating franken mindy, hjeck he could even go back and figureo ut what the REAL ENDING to the sweatbox fiasco was supposed to be!
oh my word, this opens a whole NEW trove of treasures doesnt it?!?!?!
Time travel?? Sign me up!! Iâve argued many times in this forum that science fantasy is all the rage in pop culture, and that Team Tracy shouldnât be shy about embracing that part of this stripâs legacy. Todayâs installment tells me they arenât. Yahoo!
âAre you serious, Diet?âHereâs hoping he is! I love this development. Diet Smith Industries has always been on the cutting edge of scientific achievement, and in a comic strip world, why not? Time travel provides endless story possibilities. I for one hope Mike Curtis lets his imagination run wild with this.
@Night-Gaunt49âNow you are talking about parallel worlds, not time traveling.ââBut time travel lets you create an alternate timeline, and a parallel world from where you deviate history.Suppose you went back to Fordâs Theater in a union uniform, and stood guard outside the Presidentâs box, stopping John Wilkes Booth. That would have changed the past 150 years of US history, and likely had ever expanding repercussions in world events.Of course, if you didnât want to alter history, youâd have to be very, very careful. No introducing new diseases, advanced technology, etc.
I am very pleased to see Diet Smith back in action as an industrialist who supports research and experimentation. I was sorry to see the moon tech scrubbed, believing this was a sign of timidity. It seems I was wrong. The shift to more audacious work going on at Smith Industries is delightful, with implications for future fun. .âThe Times They are A-ChanginâââBorn in TimeââMost of the TimeââFourth Time AroundââPledging My Timeâ.~Bob Dylan
âBlue Imageâ?! Yow baby! Ride Captain Ride!Time travel is like music to my ears. Iâm so stoked for this story now. Wherever Mike Curtis takes us, I see much fun ahead.
