Looking at the body language, the only person who is relaxed is Hair. Both Gunther and Bernice are so stiff. Sure don’t look like a couple about to ‘make out.’

I knew some very accomodating people in college when it comes down to relationships and making out, but usually they give you the couch at least, or a bed. OOps did I say bed??? I hope this gets sorted out though. IMO Gunther and Bernice make an obvious couple. Nerds can have a fantastic relationship long-term.

FF, i am wondering if even now Gunther is beginning to wish he was sitting next to Tiffany – though he might not be aware of that yet. Personally, i am hoping he pops up, tells them to keep the snacks, says there is somewhere he needs to be, then seeks out Tiff. It would be a stretch for Gunth, but is not entirely impossible.

-Many of us visit this site a couple times a day to read the posts. One fun exception is ‘Dark Side of the Horse’. Sometimes the writer will agree with a comment that was posted, and will actually revise the ’toon during the day…

It would be nice if, for once people thought that Bernice got to decide who she is really attracted to before selling her off to Gunther…

If I missed another comment about this, I’m sorry, but felt it important to point out how Bernice could take a hint from Luann in todays “Luann Agann” where she shows how to put off Gunther, and perhaps even Hair. He’s a Hair across my seat.

Hair,Why don’t you take a lesson from Pyro… go away and try not to get found….

Honestly, I wish Luann was progressive enough to show a poly relationship. They are becoming more and more common in this age range, and would be good here. Bernice and Gunther, a good match for each other, could have a nice open relationship where they can see other people, so Gunther could have a fling with Rosa if she ever comes back (or re-ignite something long-distance) and Bernice could pursue Piro. I don’t see something polyfidelitous working out with multiple people (based on their personalities and current outside interests), but they seem like a good match for an open relationship.

-Some others have suggested in the past that Piro has a significant other. For all of you guys, I have this question: if Piro has someone important to him already, why does he have to spend so much time looking for places to crash at night? Wouldn’t he just be staying with that person?

I think Bernice has realized there are other forms of intelligence. Gunther still needs to recognize and embrace that knowledge.

-Gunther and Bernice have a long history of being acquainted, having gone to high school together. Although both of them are trying to change (and have even said they want to at various points), they have probably not changed all that much yet.

Bernice hoped that the trip to New York would make her into a ‘new woman’, but she is still so worried about what Piro might think if she just asked him to come to her place alone that she had to go along with Dez’s idea of planning this silent movie showing.

I don’t think she feels Gunther is similar to her at all. Just because both are academically oriented doesn’t mean that they have much else in common. The only time she showed a lot of interest in him recently was when he first came back from Peru with his stubbly face. But since then she has not been very interested, and I think that is partly because she hears him saying the same types of things he always said before, basically talking about school stuff. There is nothing ‘mysterious’ about Gunther to Bernice, and that seems to be what she is looking for right now.

Gunther left Peru because he didn’t want to change as much as he thought he’d have to, to stay there. He is dissatisfied with the life he thought he wanted (going to college to be an engineer), but unfortunately he thinks he is dissatisfied only because he doesn’t have the exact type of woman he thinks he needs in his life. He had always pictured his future before as being with someone studious like him, getting married, having kids, working as an engineer and having his mother available to babysit whenever he and his wife decide to go out.

For some reason he has decided t hat Bernice fits into that picture, but what he is overlooking is her interest in guys who are both mysterious and seem to ‘need help’ of some kind. Like Zane before, Piro seems to have some kind of problem. That is part of what interests Bernice, and whatever problem Gunther has is not as interesting to her…

As usual…. concocted schemes for advancing a relationship don’t work. Relationships have to develop have to develop on their own time through normal day- to- day events.

No, they are not synonyms. Funnily enough, it’s related to that “polyfidelitous” thing you so casually dismissed earlier. But as you’ve indicated no interest in actually learning about the subject and prefer to imagine it as solely sleeping around, I don’t feel obligated to teach you anything you could otherwise learn by googling the matter.
