Spawning from a theatrical father, she enjoys portraying characters. She clearly likes playing princess/queen the best because she could rule her kingdom and make up rules. Luann will play along for a bit before bringing her back to reality. Let her enjoy her fantasy.

Shannon’s badly in need of discipline. She’s been used to being pampered by a father who’s hardly ever around. Not to say Toni and Brad don’t do a good job of providing her with rules, but I do think she gets away with more than she should at times. She just needs a bit of a parental figure telling her No, and if need be, putting her in time-out.

I think Daddy has done a little damage on Shannon with the way he takes care of her.

Shannon isn’t so horrible, but shes a direct product of her environment. Perhaps her desire to role-play commanding roles “Mother, Princess, Queen” directly stems from the chaos of day to day life as provided to her by Jonah.

Sadly Brad and Toni and the Degroots are all better equipped (and more willing) to be stable parental influences on that child than her father. I don’t think we’ll see Jonah stepping up so much as him becoming the new “bad guy”… Much like Dirk used to be the source of strife when Brad was pursuing Toni.

Given the comic’s origins… Shannon is now a pre – “Luann” to be used whenever our storyteller wants to take the focus off our now college aged title character and return it to a young child.

If the strip needs to concentrate on kids’ stories (because Team Evans has trouble writing stories about the college-age cast), then why don’t they just use the Kidz First daycare setting for that? Those kids are much easier to take than Shannon is, plus we have the possibilities for interactions among them, instead of just Shannon’s being an annoyance to adults. That’s become very old by now.

Poor kid. She’s a brat – it’s not her fault – and NO ONE has ever said “NO” to her before and made it stick. This child SO NEEDS just ONE dedicated parental figure and instead she’s just constantly shoved from pillar to post.

Wow this little spoiled brat needs a reality check STAT!

Yes, Shannon needs to be taught that grown ups are in charge. Since Luann is supposed to be good with children (it’s her day job), we’ll see what she can do.

Why don’t we ever see anything about Pru’s love interests here? We learned some time ago that she is “a lesbian thespian,” but she hasn’t shown any romantic interest in anyone since she came to town. The closest was when Pru pretended to break up with Leslie Knox after Les told everyone Pru was his girlfriend.

OK now before all you Shannon haters get started, this IS a prime example of where you simply say NO, YOU do not make the rules in this house. Pretend and real are different. And stick to it. Simple. Still does not make her a brat. She is testing and playing at the same time and isnlt even aware of doing that.

I still prefer Shannon with her energy and imagination over some child who stares at his IPad all day.

MAN! If I go by many comments here, I apparently raised terrible people because of my lax attitude regarding sexuality, morality, kindness, religion, and politics. I, along with their raised whiners and losers who cannot fend for themselves and cannot handle criticism. Funny how my 2 sons are perfect gentlemen, kind and fair, although not pushovers. Funny how my daughter was near the top of her class and graduated with honors from Albany State, and is taking an accelrated Masters program in September. None of them is promiscuous, they barely drink. Their’s and my POLITICAL views are based on simple right and wrong. Not PARTY, but I see so many CONS who are against anything that is remotely beneficial to anyone else, until THEY need it. And about not being able to handle criticism?? SERIOUSLY< have you checked the news today to see what new response #45 has to any and all said against him? Politicians are always fair game but he paints a target on himself DAILY. I do not think I could spank a little girl that I was in charge of. Different with boys. However though there are positive ways of discipline, such as time out in a corner or quiet place, and simple to understand basic rules of behavior.

I am beginning to suspect Jonah does not go on auditions so much as just escape his daughter for as long as he can. Luann has shown us in the past she can handle Shannon, but this is the first time the two of them will be living together. I am actually looking forward to seeing Luann and her mom bring Miss Shannon to reality.

Isn’t it about time for another one of the Mr. Gray / Mrs. Berger monthly dinner get-togethers? No matter how unpleasant an evening Gunther always makes those, they are still less annoying than this.

In some comics, the dogs talk (I know that does not happen here). If Puddles could talk, in Panel 3 he’d be saying, “Help …… me!”

Over 200 comments on a comic strip, and only two or three make any attempts at humor. So intense, so serious. I mean no one suggests that a contract should be put out on Shannon. Some little hit man with water balloons. Whack her.

This situation desperately needs an Adult. I’m hoping it will be Luann, but it would be interesting if it were Pru.

Maybe Shannon will join the kids theater that Pru /Les raised money for. Pru has shown some ability to control Shannon (who needs discipline and structure); Pru trained her for her dance routine at the FUSE talent show..

Maybe Miss Pru will be the one teach that kid some manners. Someone needs to stand up to her.

@NyYorkie All Luann has to say here is “try again, Shannon.” It’s incredible how well kids respond to that, as long as you already have an established relationship with them.
