When this was “new,” I had always assumed that Tommy was an indoor/outdoor cat who belonged to one of the neighbors and just came to visit the Big Pink House when his people let him outside. I’ve got a deck beside the kitchen window, so I’m used to hearing one of my own cats having a hissing fit because Higgens, a beautiful snow white cat belonging to the folks two doors down or Lady Marmalade, the torbie next door was sitting on the deck rail looking in the window!
So when that sign appeared, I was broken hearted to learn the truth about his situation.
Well, winter stopped teasing us in Hoosierland & settled in for a long run! Brrrrrr! Thankfully, the BCN Mega Orb is filled with warmth & love! You all make my day begin right! From my orb to yours, may YOUR day be merry & bright! >^.,.^< And special good wishes to Georgia, who makes this all possible! (-: !!! :-)
This, I think, was my favorite moment in the Christmas special. The Backyard Cat (Tommy, but I’m not sure if we knew that then) says he will help Elvis get home, but it seems he is even more lost than Elvis. At least Elvis has someone to help him.
Tommy is pretty awesome. And I really want a Maine Coon. I’ve heard so many good things about them. But this is exactly what I’m afraid will happen. I’ll have to put up a poster because he went outside and never came back in. I live in Maine, too, and the woods surrounding my house are filled with things that can eat a cat. So I’d be totally freaking. So rather than having to deal with a nervous break down, I’m currently petless.
Some Cats in Christmas tree fun. Some do look like a Vegas Fir. Enjoyhttps://www.yahoo.com/news/compilation-cats-climbing-destroying-christmas-145507068.html
I’m finding it difficult to not go back an read the rest of the story. I’ve convinced myself not to do it, because Georgia is modifying it a bit, like the Cartoonist for Hire sign, and I don’t want to ruin my take on the new route the story may go.
It’s also possible he just doesn’t climb up there to see or doesn’t look up too often. Tommy sees so many wonderful things at street level, he doesn’t have to look up.
Just as an aside, we’ve reached the point in this story where I really start crying, and I don’t stop until the end. The thought of someone loving that “overly friendly cat” and looking for him so hard just is more than I can take. I laugh through my tears at the “overly friendly cat” sign.
My two MCs were both abandoned, just thrown out. I can’t imagine it because they are the two most wonderful people on this planet.
I had forgotten Tommy was lost too! He is so sweet. Does anyone else have a Tommy? I have Tommy-O (for outside, as apposed to Thomas B. who lives inside.). He’s just a big old love sponge!
The lost kitten I found last week is very much like a young Tommy. Super sweet and a total cuddle bug. I have not yet gotten any response to the posts I put up about finding him, but I cannot imagine anyone having this darling kitty in their lives and not wanting him back.
When my daughter got married, they hired a cartoonist to do the wedding invitation. This was done in “superhero” style and certainly memorable. I’m sure Georgia could do something very cute, if this is the sort of commission she’d do.

Cartoonist for hire, you say? Somehow, I think she’ll find a pretty good gig.

“Cartoonist for Hire – Georgia Dunn” I’d hire her!

“Friendly cat – Very friendly cat – Overly friendly cat” That sounds about right!

I love how Tommy is (almost) always in a tropical button-down shirt. He reminds me of a laid-back Hawaiian guy!

Panel 2 contrasts Elvis and Tommy perfectly – Tommy bounds smilingly through the snow, while concerned Elvis takes timid steps, one paw at a time.

Cartoonist for hire. Funny, but probably not too far from truth back then. We are all so glad that you did, indeed, get hired!

Is the cartoonist for hire for real? It wasn’t in the original strip. With 2 kids and 3 cats, she has her hands full.

I need a handyperson to paint a wall – not even a whole room, just one wall. I’d hire Georgia to paint cats on it.

I saw that, too! I hope you are doing well. I bought three of the calendars! So very happy with them. :D
