Good morning and happy Wednesday/Hump Day to all orbsters and orbabies. Also a happy 4th of July to everyone South of the border. I apologize for not posting much the past few days and hope I haven’t worried anyone; we were at Paul’s mom’s for the Canada Day long weekend and the last 2 days at the hospital have been crazy hectic. Today we start a little later, so I actually have some breathing room. Hugs, bumps and boops to all, and a special hug for MoreCatsthanSense.

Reminds me of the canonical “green stuff” that my ex-girlfriend’s family always had for every holiday. (I think there were pistachios in it, but beyond that it was a complete mystery.)

My cats get a little cold fried chicken and just a touch of whipped cream on the side and a bite of shortcake if they want. We finally live in a place where fireworks are all confined to a professional display a long way out of town, so there should be no unpleasant surprises for them.

And best of all, this strip is #2 of today’s best strips!

Happy 4th of July to the southern neighbours! I may go down to White Rock beach tonight to watch the fireworks in Blaine, it’s usually a good show.

Puck, you are beyond adorable :) Back when I had 4 cats they had to be watched constantly as they’d always try and help themselves to people food. Luckily the current 2 have no interest and can be trusted.

I said it yesterday, someone check the potato salad. And in the last panel today Puck has a pawful of potato salad. Heros dare to try…. potato salad.

This is one of Georgia’s best-ever. All the usual little details, Pucky singing a Woody filk, all the food including the whatever-this-is.

Puck the founding kitty. He found this food and that food, so please give it to him. He sings it so nice please just a little for the founding kitty please.

Do we know “whatever this is” yet. Does it jiggle? It looks like some of my pumpkins with flower skirts. LOL.

I believe that cats’ favorite verse to “This Land…” is the one that goes, “As I was walking that ribbon of highway I saw a sign that said ‘Private Property’ but on the other side it didn’t say nothing …” Kids don’t usually sing that one in school but Woody Guthrie always sang it.

Georgia does have a knack for detail. Puck’s sightly squinted eye as he is inspecting “whatever this is”. Makes it worthwhile to read it more than once.

I just thought that I’d share this:

Evening of July 4, 1969, we had pulled into the turning basin in Dong Tam, Mekong Delta, and tied up to the pontoon near the other boats. Twelve of us (crews from several boats) decided to celebrate the Fourth by sitting in a circle on the pontoon with a pop flare in each hand. On the count of three, we each banged both of our pop flares on the pontoon, setting them off. Nobody had told anyone on base of our intent, so the base though that they were under attack and scrambled when 24 flares went off overhead Various commanding officers were not amused, but did realize that combat troops were wont to relieve tensions any way they could, so we were all informed that they were “peeved” with us, but no disciplinary action was taken. It was fun.

Happy Independence day All!

Well, guess we have three Lupins. None are deaf, guess their just cats of adventure. Course we didn’t have hugely loud fireworks, but they were loud enough that you’d expect to come in and have to find Smokey and the boys. Nope, they were sitting there at the door looking like "Ok, you’ve had your fun now where’s our dinner. Was still half an hour away from their dinner time which I’m delaying on them by typing this. So I better get going before they decide to pitch three tantrums and wreck the house. Take care folks and enjoy the rest of your evening/day.

Once or twice Henry came in here and tried to hide, but most of the fireworks are over, and he’s in there eating. Everything is more or less back to normal.
