I think they would have a lot more to talk about if Tiffany was there, since it is her dad that is with Ann.

Bernice’s “news” was MORE revealing that Luann’s. And We actually learned something:

But now, I wonder how Bern found all that out? Gunther’s Mom marrying Mr. Gray, Gunth and Le$ being roomies, and Ann living with Tom, I mean? Either She’s talking to Gunther or Bern’s got folks houses BUGGED.

At any rate, Bernice will have a great career with the NSA, one day.

All things considered, that’s a lot of gossip that Luann does not know. Given the level of investment Mr. Gray has in The Fuze and Les’ employment, I would expect Luann’s parents to know a good bit of this. As for Bernice, this tells us that she and Tiffany are a lot better friends, because Tiffany would know every bit of this gossip.

How is Luann this out of touch? She still lives in town!

I’m noticing that none of Bernice’s news involves her. She really is as dull as dishwater.

Getting past the trollish comments this is a summary of a lot of things we have seen, sort of looking at things from a place above and beyond the physical sphere of Luannverse, but while they talk about different events occurring over a summer, just as we would with friends we might not have been up-to-date with—Bernice is at Moony on campus, while Luann is still in Pittsville—I am looking for something new and surprising.

And like that, they jakked the night away. They had so much to say soon they weren’t hungry anymore. Gossip kept them well fed.

I know some of you find my avatar of Tiffany to be unattractive. I was reading through the archives whilst sitting on my fanny having tea, and I came upon June 16th and 17th of last year. I noticed Greg did a pretty good job of messing her up on those days (www.gocomics.com/luann/2017/06/16), but I still found her to be precious, especially in the third panel of the 16th. Her appearance did not matter to me, she is still my Tiffany on the inside. Last month, I drew the avatar picture you see here, and no matter how hard I tried to make her unattractive, her beauty still shone through to me. Over the last few days, I decided to try to draw her head to toe, and I really tried my best to make her look as horrible as I could. I drew her knees in Hank Ketcham style, and since there have been several negative comments recently involving Gunther’s stubble and Ox’s hair, I used that stubble on her legs, instead of being smooth. I did my best to make her ugly and overweight, but it still did not dissuade me from liking her, she still is beautiful to me. A friend of mine back east likes Tiffany, too, so I made a reference to him above the drawing. If you don’t like the image, it won’t hurt my feelings. No matter how negatively everyone speaks of her, she is still special to me.

Miss Phelps and Mr Fogarty got married a long time ago. I remember everyone cheering them on.

Bernice evidently expanded her RA rounds to include everyone’s homes. Whaddagal!

If LuAnn had been reading her own strip she would haver known all this.

Tom Farrell? Should I be taking notes?

Luann was there when Tiffany mentioned that she was off to see “Mrs. Fogarty” in the March 17 strip, so that last bit would be more confirmation than news, to her. That out of the way, it seems odd that these two would have so much catching up to do. Come to think of it, this strip is curiously devoid of cell phones in casual, everyday use… it seems they only come into play when essential to the plot.

Bernice give a lot of important news. But no one is on herself… pretty sad. At least we now know that the next marriage probably will be the one between Ann Eiffel and Tom Farrell.

Man, have I ever not been paying attention. I don’t remember Fogarty/Phelps happening at all. But then, I was always bored with those characters.

At least I knew the rest of the stuff.

Being snarky to the owner’s kid and her friend is a great way to keep a job, huh? LOL!

I think this is going to take a little longer than a minute.

Since Mr. Gray and Les Knox both work at the Fuse, shouldn’t Luann be telling Bernice about the Gray / Berger wedding and Gunther’s moving in with Les, instead of vice versa? I believe this wasn’t sufficiently thought through, or else it’s implying that Luann is so self-centered that she pays no attention to anything that is happening to anyone other than herself.

All Bernice’s news are NOT about Bernice.

The next NASA mission for “Major Roger Healey” will be assigned to him by God.

Bill Daily, who played the womanizing astronaut on “I Dream of Jeannie” as well as the pilot Howard Borden on “The Bob Newhart Show” has passed away at the age of 91.

And just like that Phelps and Fogarty are married… It’s a fun bit of character progression to hear about, but I’m actually surprised the writer didn’t spend a month long story arc on it…

Wait a minute, Luann doesn’t know any of that stuff? She’s friends with those people too, isn’t she? She was involved with the Ann Eiffel storyline with Tiffany. Was she out of town all summer or something?

Luann spends three day talking about Jack and the only event was the need posing. No tire. No pizza. No dog park. Then Bern blurts a bunch of items with Greg confirming the Fogerty marriage speculation and the new bit that Farrel and Eiffel are shacked up.

The strips around the money return indicate Bern may have stayed in the dorms with Tiffany for the summer and that’s where she got all this info.

The shack up news is what may have sent Tiffany into this current, over the top, behavioral mode.

Big teaser for Monday. Will Bernice drop a personal item that will carry thru next week?

So Phelps finally snared Fogarty. Would that we were there to see it.

Re the waiter dilemma: We meet for brunch after church with our kids, grand-, and great grandkids every Sunday. They are already there as we arrive. My wife starts the catchup gab immediately. Usually the kids have made our drink order, so when the waiter comes around for food order the wife has to say “give us a minute” or “start around the table and I’ll make up my mind by the time you get around to me.” Most of the time she orders the same thing. So the gab before gob for women must happen enough to be a “grain of truth stereotype.” (Which most stereotypes are by the way.)

Why does this strip make it sound like Luann is coming to an end?

Well at least we know L can move her arms while sitting and talking.

How about news of Delta? Remember her – best friend, third musketeer, the two of you have done zip with her since finishing high school?

This is what happens when you don’t have a life. Both are to to young for this foolishness. Or lack of???

“So Gunther’s mom and Mr. Gray got married, and Gunther moved in with Les? That’s wild! But wasn’t there somebody else who was living with Gunther and his mom? I could swear I remember Gunther’s mentioning sometime that he had a roommate.”

“Not that I recall.”

“Eh, you’re probably right. So what looks good on the menu?”

Ann and Tom not surprised.

They said they were starving, but obviously they are not that hungry. Or they would have ordered by now.

I wonder if Phelps and Fogarty were clapping their erasers in the teacher’s lounge before school every morning…

Luann did the feature stories, but Bernice was like that little strip that runs across the bottom of the TV news: more news less fluff.

That’s the first time I’ve seen this strip choose to mock women rather than men.

Ox knows them so well.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!! Ms. Phelps is now WHAT!!

Good use of repetition/callback with Pru’s punchline there. Also a good way to cap off this “arc” and move on. We don’t need to keep recapping what we’ve all seen for ourselves.

Gee, an afternoon gossiping at a restaurant without even ordering a cup of coffee is a whole lot more informative than spending weeks reading the comics!
