Pucky’s charts are the best! And yes, looks like they’ve got all the food groups covered. I wonder where on the food pyramid Puck would place cranberry space goo? At the top? ;p
Our mother was going to mash up the space goo one year. Fortunately we stopped her in time, it’s just not the same without the ribs from the can. And don’t get me started on that hideous mush of actual cranberries they try to pass off as cranberry sauce, saying it’s “better” than space goo.
Why do people use that canned goo when it takes 10 min to make fresh cranberry sauce? I don’t like either one but make it for others. Heat cranberries, water and sugar until they pop. Cool and eat.
Our thanksgiving was last month, but I’m thankful to be out of the hospital, back at home, and buried under a pile of cats (okay, two).
I’ve always thought bears had the right idea, hunkering down in a cave to hibernate for winter and now I’m doing that, camping out in my finished basement. I suppose most bears don’t look around their caves from time to time and think “What is this junk? Why have I kept it?”
OMC, I left a comment under Sue Ellen’s first comment but I should have waited longer…..I had no idea that cranberry opinions were so hard held by so many! Even after being a member of our church’s community Thanksgiving dinner prep crew for years. At least it is a much safer dinner table debate topic than many others ;-)
Good morning and happy Tuesday/Mewsday/Bluesday, orbsters and orbabies. I love Pucky’s chart today, covering the major Thanksgiving food groups. His pullover also makes him look quite dapper.
On the home front, my father-in-law is slowly improving after his fall. He doctors say he should be able to dance a dance or two at his and mother-in-law’s formalization of their union in early January. Thanks for all the bumps, boops and orb hugs that were sent.
Today’s comments are so sweet! Reminds me of a group of children excitedly talking about what will be under the Christmas tree. (I’ve never liked Thanksgiving (complicated family), but you guys are actually getting me into the spirit.)
Not gravy, but it occurs to me that I do have a video of Database from a few years ago when she was about 2 months old. Kitty videos go with everything, right?
Funny that the fruits and veg group is shown as corn, potatoes and an apple. My brothers would eat cranberry sauce only in the space goo form, and had to be plopped onto the serving plate in the cylinder as shown in Puck’s chart.
Myself and the fuzzy butts are grateful there will be food. It’s been a hard year. The dogs and I are visiting my parents for ham and bringing home leftovers for me and scraps for kitties and pups. Of course the pups get well fed right after dinner but don’t tell the kitties.
This is a question for shirins about yesterday’s post—What is the name of the new drops that are a “combo antibiotic and steroids” to help with the inflammation that might be causing the clouding in your kitten’s eye? We brought in a tiny kitten 12 years ago in order to treat a respiratory infection that settled in his eyes. We saved one eye, but the other cornea is clouded (he can see some out of it). Don’t know if trying these new drops would do any good after so many years, but may be worth asking our vet.
Never liked cranberry sauce. But Leftover turkey an’ sliced stuffing sandwich with grape jam? Nummers!! ( there was NEVER enough dressing , so Mom would make a dressing loaf on the side)
Not shown: green bean casserole. I’ve been wondering for weeks if anyone’s ever done a pre-packaged version of this missing holiday staple. Well, wonder no more! At the grocery liquidator today, they had prepared versions of all the old standbys: stuffing, cranberry sauce, and on the end of the row, factory-fresh-frozen green been casserole!
(And to save you asking, no, I didn’t buy any. Someone else is preparing the meal this year. I was just there to pick up a bunch of sparkling water for the next few weeks.)

How appropriate that cranberry space goo has its own food group because there’s nothing else quite like it. Yum!
