i remember just after our second child was born we both came down with a virus. No family nearby so we took it in turns of one being awake the other asleep.

Ah the very important spoons…I know you well. Now, about the survey that went POOF!…I’m going to take tomorrow & maybe Sunday to go back over the responses from yesterday, today, &, who knows, maybe tomorrow. Then, I am just going to post #s. If you want to know from which section of a state the other posters are in, you should go back & review the posts. I’m still collecting the info &, if Georgia wants it, I’ll be happy to provide it to her.

I just have to say again, one last time, (bc I’m stubborn & am determined to be heard; after this, I give up) that I still don’t understand the big deal about the other info being posted here. Of course, I understand what you’re saying & why we all need to be cautious these days but some of you seem to think it’s some secret info I conjured up from some secret source & want to broadcast to the entire web-world when, in reality, I’ll say it again, one last time…It is only info you, yourselves, have already posted on the very same site I proposed to post it back on. It’s just organized now.

Anyway, if you’re concerned you posted too much, you should go back, delete your own post(s) & inform me to take you off the list, such as I was already happy to do for SueEllen.

And, that folks, is my final comment about that…You’ll see the #s posted sometime in the next few days. Many thanks to those folks who…you know… ;)

Big news in the Big Pink House! Poor People…whenever this was from life, I hope it “flu” by quickly! Lupin’s pep talk is wonderful.

(Although I have to admit I’m laughing far too hard at the Toddler and Baby zooming around on the baby chair. Those are some determined eyebrows on the Baby in the last panel! Onward, Baby!)

The children haven’t been “spared”; they brought it in here in the first place. I haven’t had a cold or flu since I stopped working in an office alongside people with kids.

My cat spoons me whether or not I feel well. We’re night and meal time buddies. But I suspect you all understand that.

And, don’t forget, we’re just past the 100th anniversary of the Great Influenza. May we never see its like again.

Puck’s so concerned! Lupin’s so supportive! Elvis is so professional until his duties are done & then he’s so cutely settled in to take care of his Mommy! Cuteness abounds! ;)

Matrioshka in a babushka.

Matryoshka is the Russian nesting doll. A babushka is a grandmother or elderly woman, also the uniform of babushkas: the traditional triangular cloth head covering tied under the chin.

Today’s strip is exceptionally gorgeous and more than usually densely packed with information and art. I do love it.

From the opening idea that there is ONE cold and that both of the humans have it, to the closing medicinal toast, what fun to enjoy all the title tidbits between.

While the kiddies jump over the moon, the kitties give their humans, some spoon!

The concerns about people getting hold of one’s personal data are important and are worthwhile cautionary tales. I have a sort of flipside story from long ago. It’s a love story.

In the 1960s, and probably much later too, the letters pages in comic books would print the full names and addresses of the letter writers. In fact, this was instrumental in the founding “fandom” as a community of comics fans and collectors. I suspect “The Big Bang Theory” would not exist today without the hundreds of fans who made contact through those pages and began to exchange amateur comics and self published fanzines. The early comics conventions were also fed by those addresses.One of my friends, when he was in his teens, had several letters published in various comics. He knew some other kids in his town who liked comics, but few young ladies who did. One day he noticed a letter in a Batman comic letter page, signed with a female name, address in a nearby city.

Long story short, he found her phone number and called her. They were the same age and began a correspondence. Eventually he traveled to meet her, she traveled to visit him. And so on.

They have been married for over 50 years. A smart couple and clearly made for each other.

One more little tidbit. As a kid, he was awarded a single page of original art for one of his letters, a cover illustration for an issue of “The Flash.” He recently sold it to another collector for $75, 000. Nice.

Attention all paws: Spooning alert! Humans with colds! Determine wind velocity and direction and assume spooning stations accordingly! That is all!

“The children have been spared” … those may be the most chilling words ever. The adults are completely flattened; they couldn’t intervene if the toddler and the baby decided they would get better sooner if they were painted pink (the ‘pink of health’ – just how might an imaginative toddler interpret that?)

I know the color is Nyqil, but with kids running amok, let’s hope it is off-brand Dayquil lest disaster ensue…

Today’s story is hitting home with our beloved Lady Bri! She’s in the throes of a humdinger of a cold, and her sweet Hubby is barely past a nasty bout.

I’m hoping we can dedicate today to all the orbsters dealing with colds, & other galloping galoots.

Russian flu … I can’t. I have to send this to my friend Lana … who, for the record, is a redheaded dual Russian-U.S. citizen born near Moscow … and who, for the record, has a little girl who brings out my inner Lupin. She once tried to pull my leg off. Anyone else would be killed for that. She got to pull on it, giggling all the while, for several minutes while I giggled along with her.

This is certainly timely. I’ve been felled with a nasty cough (just in time for my birthday. Yay!). Dr. Albert A. Cat is currently letting me be the big spoon as we nap on the day bed. Purrs are the best medicine.

Flu and cold advice my mother taught me that really works is to go to bed the first day you feel ill. That’s giving your body a fighting chance to throw it off. I’ve managed over the years to throw off colds that way. It really is embarrassing to cancel activities, call in sick when you’re not yet deathly ill but it works. If you wait until you are in total wipeout, it’s too late and you’re stuck with the cold or flu. Just a suggestion.

Just got over a cold thank cat it wasn’t the flu. Chugging day and nyquil helped a lot. Purrs and boops to all who need!

My cat, Cosmo, could tell when I was sick and always came over to comfort me.

As it was empty, I put some cat food in the dish on my porch this morning. Just a little while ago, I peeked out the window and spotted a cat eating. It was not a kitty I recall seeing before. This one was what is called a “brown” tabby (i.e. agouti with black stripes), and, if there are any white markings, they are placed where I could not see them. I went and opened my door to see if I could get a closer look, but the cat was gone by then.

Great job if you can stay home when you are sick. Never has one like that.
