Or were they REALLY “Doing Something” in Gunny, besides looking at dating apps, admiring towels and playing a vicious game of Bid Whist?

Two points, all kinds of clues to leave one wondering if Luann and Gunther are somewhere between 2nd base and home plate, given the slammed door, when they hear Les’s shocked and amused question, and Gunther’s FIB, when Les had seen Luann’s car still there, and I took at look at a 2014 comment I made (that long have I been?) where Les punched Knute dead in his stomach. Les is far more humanized now (Pittsville and DeGroot affect) and Luann and Gunther have maybe made a great leap into adult activities, like college students do—nah probably a misdirection play.

Last we saw of our two heroes, they were both playing with their phones. I do NOT expect there to be anything relationship-wise going on between them. Tomorrow will tell.

If I had to guess: (1) Gunther & Luann are moving furniture around in his room, or Gunther is making some item Luann thinks he needs; or (2) Some guy responded to Luann’s personal (or maybe Jack) and invited her to dinner – leaving Gunther royally pissed. Anyway I kinda doubt Luann & Gunther would be that noisy in their first encounter. Of course maybe they were making all that noise to mess with Les.

Remote Guess #100: Gunther stalled and Luann’s car stalled both on the same night. Tiffany went to visit Les, and instead Tiffany & Luann went shopping.

A little Monday morning mystery for the fans?

Wait! Luann has a car?!

Looks like it’s POSSIBLE that Luann and Gunther after discussing all the people who were interested in their on line dating profiles, finally got more than a little interested in each other, and, decided to help each other get into something little more “comfortable.” But, if that’s what actually happened, I’ll still be surprised.

On another note (or two):

Nice car, Luann. I don’t think we’ve ever seen it before.

Gee! Gunther has a “G” on his door? But no sock, tie or any other “Keep Out” signal.

No, wait for it! Greg will never let Gunther and LuAnne hook-up. Sexual tension!

Well, well, well! G&K are off to a good teaser this Monday! They’ve been setting this tease up for two or three weeks. Of course we’ve all been waiting for/expecting something like this as the weeks stretched out. As I am wont to do in these situations; “Let’s play around (pun intended) with this.”

Are they…? Were they on their way and were interrupted…? Or something else? Greg has signaled in interviews that when IT happens IT will be only be broadly hinted. We’ve seen examples of his “broad hints” with Brad and Toni. In response to a questioner Greg gave the example of a censor-safe broad hint being “it’s morning and there are shoes under the bed.” Many commenters think Gunther and Tiffany did IT in The Great Salamander Adventure. Quill called the G-man on it when he got home, but G-man denied it. Now we have another situation and Les is the one pulling G’s chain.

We’ve had three Luann “broad hints” so far and two have involved Gunther. Mordy should be very encouraged about the future. I know I am.

Hmm. Not my favorite direction for this week’s worth of comics, but, oh well. ’Tis the play we are venturing upon.

1. Smarmy Les will likely be the primary focus because he is loud, obnoxious, and very willing to goad Gunther whether he and Luann a) did nothing, b) kissed, or c) copulated.

2. In whichever direction the goading and ribbing will take place, it is likely Gunther will grow irate (likely justified). But, PLEASE, Greg, if this is the direction you are heading…have Gunther’s anger have him do something sensible and useful this time… not just peter out in ineffective attitude.

“SLAM, BAM” ? I can’t believe Greg wrote that. And no “Thank you ma’am?” Just THUD???

They’re building enormous wooden werewolves to attach to the back of the house…no wait, that’s been done.

How did I fail? Let me count the ways.

One, I predicted a return of one of the lesser plots, such as Fay or Shannon – both of whom many have suggested would “score” before Luann or Gunther.

Two, I predicted that return should Luann and Gunther “score.”

Given the level of obfuscation that G&K like to produce, and given that it’s only Monday, I guess we’ll just have to wait for Saturday for the “surprise ending” of last Saturday.

The last we saw of L and G, G was hinting that there was one guy who was OK, namely himself, who responded to her profile, and she was giving him a coy look out of the corner of her eye. Considering that they were thiiis close to kissing at the end of the previous week, it could well be that they were facetiming when Les came in, and in a panic, G jumped up and slammed his door and tripped over something and fell into the wall or a piece of furniture.

This surely is an interesting story arc.

Now we have the situation of the slammed door, the “Luann (like Elvis) has left the building” comment, and the (supposed) proof of the lie in Luann’s car still parked outside. Leslie’s return-slash-interruption has been foreseen by almost all. His presence now makes this a deliciously tense and complicated situation. So “let’s take the bull by the tail and face the situation” – as some say.

We see what’s purported to be Luann’s car parked at the curb. (BTW, I see no G-mobile, nor Les’ “wheels” parked anywhere.) This is the first explicit show of “her” car in my memory. Makes her seem more grown up, more adult. More likely to get into “grown-up” situations? Recall that she showed up dressed for a date and not just for a walk-through, and then a popcorn and Star Trek evening.

Situation one: Luann has not left the building. Lu and the G-man may have been involved in some situation akin to her Quill adventures or like G and Tiff “study time 101” and they need time to un-dishevel themselves. (Been there, done that. When my fiancée’s roommate arrived suddenly. With her out of state, visiting parents in tow! Hugely embarrassing!) Or it may have gone farther. In that case I hope everyone grabbed their own clothes. Tomorrow we will be checking out the color of all items for sure.Situation two: Luann has left the building. Then why the Slam, Bam, Thud? Gunther might have been in an intimate texting situation with Bets, needed some “privacy,” and tripped over the sewing machine on the way back to the bed from slamming the door. Gunther may have had to lend Luann His car for some (lame) reason. That’s not Luann’s car, it’s Gunther’s, or Irma’s, or… Dang! This is tough! OR. Gunther wants to keep Les away from Luann, slammed the door to keep him out, and some pictures fell off the wall.

Situation three: This is all a fantasy/dream of Gunther’s, all the way back to the Pru texting intro.

WOW. #2and #3 seem pretty thin. G-man! You got some explaining to do!

Considering that Luann didn’t expect that to happen, and Gunther isn’t even sure how it works, it is likely that they don’t have protection. Now for “Plan B”.

Here’s a possibility … Luann and Gunther were still just JOKING about all the dating site profiles, and laughing off the bed, hence the Bam! Thud!

Remotely, it COULD be a ‘Wake Up Little Susie’ moment … but that’s doubtful, IMO… ;)

Redecorating

Maybe Mrs Berger nabbed Luann on her way out. She would be having a heart to heart talk with Luann about her dear son Gunther.

Luann “left” awhile ago, car wouldn’t start, Gunther just got back from taking her home.

Luann left though the window!!!!

I don’t think Gunther is lying, he is not that type. He knows Les can see the pink car and he knew Les would be home at 10. Something else is going on, but I have no guess what it might be.

There are many ways Luann could have left without taking her car. For example: she had a medical incident and left by ambulance, she recently left, but felt like taking a short walk before she got in her car, a friend could have contacted her and picked her up, she left Gunther’s room but snuck over to Les’ room for some reason, or one of her online dates sounded wonderful and picked her up. Turns out I DO have a guess what it might be!

Luann did not like the direction things were going and decided to leave the strip. The thought of waking up every morning for the rest of her life with Gunther was just too much.

Luann’s car was parked in the same spot Feb. 6th

Um, they have moved from the common area to Gunther’s BEDROOM…to talk and then joke about dating. Les comes in and the bedroom door goes slam… I think the ‘shipping’ may have sailed. Or at least the ship has been christened..

Simple answer: Luann and Gunther are having sex and Gunther lied to Les. Sometimes the most obvious is the most satisfying.

Gunther does not lie. Luann is NOT in his room. G says: Luann went home!! …with 2 exclamation marks…meaning he is upset about her leaving and disgusted at Les suggesting that they were hooking up. Not sure why she had to leave her car there…we will find out tomorrow maybe.?.

I doubt Gunther could be as articulate and responsive if he were in the throws of ‘gettin it on’ w/ Luann. I think that Luann went out through the window when they sensed Les had come back, and Gunther slammed the window down hence the banging noise. She’s on her way to her car. The last panel shows the shade slightly up on the window so they can see when Les returns.

Hmm. If Gunther is telling the truth and Luann is not there… hmmm…. how to explain….. (imagination)…..

a) Gunther and Luann decided to each try a 1/2 bottle of beer (because Gunther said it was an amazing flavor profile to complement a pepper while in Peru). This necessitated Luann to call Uber for a ride home and Gunther in his extreme intoxication is stumbling about in his bedroom.

b) Luann forgot that Gunther’s pad is in Pitt, and when she realized she was actually less than a block away from her home, she decided to walk home and will get the car tomorrow instead of taking another short trip like that.

c) Luann forgot to finish vacuuming yesterday from the couch, so she literally ran home to do this, because she is super diligent, and forgot that she had driven her car to Gunther’s.

Gunther panics too easily.

Probably not since in a “family” news paper people have children, just no sex.

Maybe she went out the back door just as they heard him unlocking the door. I am sure the house has a back door.

Lu’s car wouldn’t start and Al drove her home. Mystery solved.

On the other hand, maybe Luann’s stuck in an embarrassing situation ( tried on one of Gunther’s Star Trek garments and now can’t get out of it).

Leslie leaps to clearly fallacious conclusions. The noise is generated from Gunny’s attempts to hide Luann or to help her escape out the window.

Yes, her car knows.

Gunther makes Sheldon Cooper look like Cary Grant. Here’s hoping luann has better taste.
