There you go, Luann. You don’t know who you are. You’re still in limbo. Go see Jack. You helped him find his career path. He might help you find yours.
And, Bernice, there is no right way to fold socks. Rolling them actually keep the pairs together. Merely folding them don’t guarantee them to stay together.
Luann is subconsciously waiting for a handsome guy to come sweep her off her feet and take care of her forever, hence no future career thoughts.. Still living in a dream word of sorts.
Being unsure of life is an occupational hazard for a 19 year old. Bernice is not being helpful, but maybe she is, Luann has to eventually figure it out for herself, both personally and as life presents itself. That is pretty normal too even in Luannverse, where hilarity tries to ensue.
Some friend you are Bernice. You’re studying to be a counselor (hopefully better than your mentor Ms. Fogarty,) Luann is looking for life advice. And, you give advice on packing clothes.
I know a lot of people who went to community college to get all their generals out of the way. then looked at what they wanted to do. I think Luann is worrying about nothing.
With today’s strip we find that the dorm scene is being depleted. Luann is whining about her banal life. So I think the peripheral characters won’t experience any “life changing” episodes for awhile.
I predict someone new might drop into Luann’s lap. Or someone old, in a new way. A new infatuation interest. Or someone to mentor? Fay mebbe?
Can I point out that the counselor in training was in a situation where someone is looking for life guidance… and criticizes that person’s sock-folding technique?
Would have been a good opportunity to direct someone to internships to try out career paths, or maybe some other career-centric learning.
But hey, she’s rolling her socks. That’s waaaay more important.
I noted in reading the comments that some have suggested buying socks all of the same kind and color. But then you still have to sort them as to the size of the holes worn in the heels. They have to match, you know.
Luann and her friends graduated from Pitts High 5 years ago this June. It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for her to declare a major. I wonder if her interest in performing arts will ever resurface.
You know those shoes holders that hang on closet doors and shoes don’t fit in them very well? I put my socks in them. They’re always together and never stretched out
I also have a bunch of “trendy” socks that all go with each other, no matter what color they are. I throw them all in one drawer, and when I wear them, I close my eyes and pick two, no matter what color they are. They always look good together.
Wow, so at the end of her 4th year of college she finally realizes that she needs to start making goals for her future. In another 6 years perhaps she’ll figure out what some of those goals actually are.
Some people roll them, some people fold them. I don’t think that either method is wrong, it’s just a matter of preference.
Just to let you all know that I’m okay, I didn’t get sent to the GoComics’ “penalty box”. I’m having internet problems at home, I’m at the library right now on a public computer. I think my 2-year-old modem may need to be replaced. I reset that thing many times since my ’net went down Tuesday night.
As expensive as it is to send a kid to school, I’d hope they figure that out quick. That is so they can pay back their student loan. Because unless I’m gonna get another mortgage, that’s the only way it’ll happen.
With her personality, Bernice couldn’t even be a counselor in a doggy day care. But, Luann is in a community college which offers associate degrees for veterinary techs. That would be a good fit for her. She likes people. She likes dogs. Jack likes dogs. Luann likes Jack. And, with a nod to Luann1212, happiness ensues.
I was taught to tuck one end of the sock into the other so they wouldn’t get lost from each other. Don’t worry Luann. The answer will come to you in time. I think you’d make a great elementary school teacher!!! Or a guidance counselor. You are so good with kids.
Why is Luann blonde instead of her natural redhead in today’s comment? Is there a hidden blonde joke in today’s comic about her not knowing what she’s doing? Hmm?

And Luann once againf is wearing her heart on her sleeve. Do you suppose Greg did that on purpose? Or just Freudian?
P.S. I know it is a false application of the “Freudian Slip.” But it just sounded good!
