Drop to the floor: Is this like the rule we have for when we’re on fire? Stop, drop, and roll? Is there going to be a Pucky chart of what to do when the doorbell rings?
Was delivering meals this evening and met another “concierge cat”. The cat greeted me as I walked from the street where I’d parked onto one end of the long semicircular driveway (big expensive house, this) with my headlamp to keep from falling in a hole or tripping, and walked with me all the way to the front door where he suddenly dropped and rolled over on his back.
Cats that lead delivery people to the door crop up more often than you’d expect. They seem to have decided, entirely on their own, that this is their job and they must do it well.
Everyday, I come to better understand my mom’s fixation with her gocomics strips and people she befriended. You folks are an amazing representation of humanity. Not once have I heard anything negative here, nothing politically polarizing, not one word other than to very slightly admonish those who try to input something mean-spirited. I truly get inspiration from your kindness and generosity of spirit to all who come to admire our feline overlords represented here in one of the most loving and creative cat comic strips ever. Since Georgia Dunn created the characters, I believe that they represent not only how she views life, but how she sees her beloved critters interacting with the world in the most positive way, and also how I see each one of you deal with the things that come up in your lives. With love for each other, strength, courage, and faith that our mighty God will handle things as they should be handled, but most importantly I think, with humor. Humor will get you through long days of heartbreak so much better than kvetching and moaning about things. I pray daily for the orb and all that they come into contact with. God Bless You All! With many head boops and loud and proud purrs, Lennie
Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts, Lennie. I’m so glad that you’ve found a sense of community here. Hugs to you, and return prayers for good things in your life.
Where is Elvis? Is he cat-a-tonic over a stranger in the house? Oh my cat, the kitten is too close to the stranger. Stranger danger…stranger danger…They are all Doomed!*
Thank you, Linda!!! Generally, we don’t get negative, cuz we’re too busy being cat-like in enjoying everything and taking care of our fellow hoomans, and also trying to keep our corner of the world happy. Happiness may be a state of mind, but it can be contagious and a kind word can make the world a nicer place.
Ha ha ha! Puck reminds me of my Tigger! When the bell rings, she screams,‘HIDE HIDE!!" Then runs for the safety of her under the bed, fallout shelter! While her housemate, Cassidy, does the opposite and runs toward the door and screams, ’WHO IS IT, WHO IS IT?!’
This just in! The cute baby sucking her cute fingers and the cute kitten climbing with her cute claws, has made the cute meter explode into space and is now in orbit, around Saturn!
Off topic: I don’t often post, but am a long-time BCN orbster, and feel that you all are like family. I’d like to request boops and purrs for myself, as I am having a laparoscopic total hysterectomy tomorrow for endometrial cancer, and am a little nervous. I’m hoping the surgery will be all that’s needed, as I’ve done the chemo/radiation routine six years ago for breast cancer, and don’t want to do that again. Thank you for any good vibes sent my way! ♥
Fido update — thanks for all positive ORBster vibes. Seems as if those powers are doing their job. Over the weekend he’s perked-up noticeably. He really likes his new urinary-tract friendly food, and has been a good boy (mostly) getting his medicine. On the (mildly) down-side, our house mistress O’Malley has found her jealous side. Fido’s getting TOO MUCH SPECIAL ATTENTION! Giving us the cold shoulder (and back-of-the-tail view ifyouknowwhatImean).
I hadn’t thought of a possible ultra-sound treatment for the bladder stones, I’ll ask the vet when we see him on Saturday.

“Who can it be knocking at my door?
Go ‘way, don’t come ’round here no more
All I wish is to be alone
Stay away, don’t you invade my home
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?”

Reminds me of a couple of bosses I had years ago who came up with the perfect name for a kitten: Velcro.

Maybe the tech people should install a flashing-light alert for Lupin so he doesn’t have to wait for a bulletin to know that the doorbell rang?
