Love how Wiley parodies that old “trickle down” snake oil scam that has never worked.
Didn’t work under Hoover. Didn’t work under Reagan.
Didn’t work under Bush. Not working under Trump.
Or maybe it has worked perfectly for its true purpose — just the way they designed it — to REDISTRIBUTE the wealth produced by middle class working people to the few richest elites who already have the most while pretending it is supposed to help working people and the middle class.
It does NOT work the way scam artists try to sell it to gullible suckers.
Hey, I’ve been to the Los Angeles County Fair. Sounds about right, really. The only difference is they have this ginormous “miniature” train at the fair. Last time, I went there, the theme was Route 66. It was actually quite cool. :-)
I was shopping with my friend when we saw some processed kale chips for sale. I just said that potatoes were also a super food at one time and look at what they’ve done to them.
Of course the “Trickle Down Wealth Ride” is perfectly safe for the average fairgoer: only 2% of the patrons actually ride it while everyone else stands in line until the park closes, dreaming that maybe on some future visit they’ll be one of the lucky few to be able to climb on board. Meanwhile their kids are sitting in the shade, following the riders on Instagram…
The Food Police are achieving their aim. People are getting terrified of eating anything but KALE! People throw away perfectly good food because somehow it will kill them today although it was fine yesterday. Some young lad online asked if he should throw the head of lettuce away because it was on the counter all night. No concept that it was out in the SUN FOR 3 FREAKING MONTHS, GROWING! All bow done to the Food Police.
Funny thing is that I started the Low-Carb KETO plan during the Winter, having NEVER BEEN ABLE to lose weight for YEARS, and since then, I’ve dropped 35+ pounds! Lots of meat, eggs, cheese, green veggies, and FATS!! Just no carbs…
By the way… the toon is showing a Republican NIRVANA!!! Low-watt goobers believing whatever they are told…
Just one question: WHO THE HE!! WANTS TO EAT HEALTHY DONUTS?? (BTW, when did the phonetic spelling of donuts become accepted? It’s been a while since I’ve seen “doughnuts”. . .)
Actually, fat is a lot less harmful than the extra sugar added to replace the flavor removed with the fat; turns out, it’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s excess sugar.
The Trickle Down scam was mentioned in William Jennings Bryan’s famous “Cross of Gold” speech in 1896.
There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that, if you will only legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea, however, has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous, their prosperity will find its way up through every class which rests upon them.
Henry Ford obviously understood Bryan when he provided a wage to his workers that would allow them to own a car, too. I don’t think he got any poorer for doing that.
I have been eating a few ounces of dark chocolate most days after lunch. It helps me not snack before supper, and in fact is part of a change in my behavior that is helping me lose a little weight. So far, anyway.
