Ummm… no offense, but I wouldn’t really want Puck to file my taxes – his interpretation of allowable deductions would likely differ markedly than that of the tax man.
These things were all the rage when I was a kid. They drove me absolutely up the wall. Couldn’t stand ‘em. Still don’t like ’em. Cute pictures of Lupin in the laundry and Puck getting a hug, though!
Sunday Funday!!!! Ok, the Mega-Orb gives so much, I’d like to give back to the Orb, but of course, I can’t do it alone. Since soon we will no longer need a spoiler zone, I think if we had a designated spot each week for folks to share something fun, great news, a funny story, a joke, anything. This is not to prescribe that this is the only place or time to do it, if you have great news or something to share at anytime, by all means DO so!
Just like the spoiler zone, whoever thinks of it first on a Sunday should start it, even if you don’t have something to share!!!
Oh my Cat! I adored Choose Your Own Adventure books back in the day! What a wonderful treat! Now I am heading back to the first panel to enjoy a whole different broadcast. Toodles!
This is a great and original strip. Funny and cute. Well done Georgia!

Local amateur writer seen cleaning up his ego from the floor at the County Library.
Local amateur writer, Robert, was witnessed mopping up his ego from the library meeting room floor this afternoon. The grateful librarians were happy to loan their bucket and mop to the would-be writer, saying: "Anytime we get help cleaning up someones hopes and dreams after a Writers Workshop, we are very excited. It really helps the work load on the weekends.
The “writer” would not speak to reporters on his way out of the library, but was heard muttering the word “gin” over and over again….
Hi everyone!
In all honesty, it was a great experience. There were two moderators, both semi-professional writers who directed the class and there were people who came to share their work. We discussed good reference books for grammar for 2019…no consensus was reached. We discussed how to gauge the audience for your writing and we received a "Target Audience Profile worksheet that we can use. We also discussed the break points between short story, novelette, novella, novel and epic. At this point, I think my completed story would be a novella in length.
At the end, people offered something they had written to the class. I was far too nervous to read aloud, so the Moderator read Chapter 1 of Giblet & Belle, And The Case Of The Missing Ring. I was not prepared for the extremely gracious response I got. Everyone seemed to really like it and offered a few corrections. They asked for my inspiration for the story and I told them about all of you on the Orb, Breaking Cat News and showed a picture of the real Giblet and Belle together.
The Writers Workshop meets the second Saturday every month and I plan to go back. Thank you Wife and all of you for suggesting this.
OK. OK. OK. Wait a minute! Nobody has anything to say about a plant with a notebook? Is it an alien? An alternate phylum reporter? Was it left behind by a mouse. This poses more questions than “Our IX Lives.”
I leave Georgia with two thoughts today 1) we need panels both of Lupin driving a car (perhaps the Toddler will get a pedal car in the future) AND Puck doing taxes (with appropriate graphs and charts, and 2) we are not worthy!
Back in the day, I used to write these choose-your-own-adventure books for kids. They were always fun, but THEY ARE NOT EASY TO DO. I am in awe that Georgia has not only written an excellent adventure that works as a choose-your-own, but also illustrated it perfectly. This might be the most brilliant thing Georgia has done yet. It’s been a while, but I must reiterate my prediction that someday she will be in the pantheon of all-time-great comic artists.
When I was younger, so much younger than today, I remember a book called Elizabite, written by H. A. Rey of Curious George fame. She had a mean bite, but she was OK as long as you fed her hot dogs.
Is getting a people hug a reward? Studies show that at least 43% of normal* cats believe that people hugs are innappropriate restraint. *The feline norm is ill defined at best.
This makes me so happy. I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid. Who else read them with your fingers stuck in various pages so you could flip back and undo your mistakes?
broadcast begins Lupin: We are live in the dining room, where there is no food in the bowl. Puck: Let’s search for food in the kitchen! Lupin: We have BROUGHT HOME THE BACON! broadcast ends
