Eduard Delacroix was one of the main characters in Stephen Kingâs novel, The Green Mile. I wonder if thatâs an intentional reference. Eduard was sentenced for murdering his family.
I find it interesting to see how Frisk is drawn compared to the others. Weâve already had a number of crossovers where characters interacted while being drawn in wildly different styles. But here it happens even though all the characters are original with Dick Tracy. Frisk has that particular jagged and angled style of Dick Locher, while others go more back to Gould himself.
The other officer nearly died (his heart stopped multiple times on the operating table) and was off-duty for 6 months.
I was confused about the âsovereign citizenâ description. I found out that a sovereign citizen us one who basically believes that he or she is above the law. Hereâs a good discussion of the phenomenon:
PRIMM: Really Tracy? We got 60 seconds to make a connection and thatâs your open?
2-DT: I might start slow but I end like a house on fire baby.
3-PRIMM: You better have a gas can handy because the heat youâre putting off wouldnât brown a piece of white paper.
4-DT: Well then, put it this way. We either make a date and call it quits for the day or one of us has to go over and speed date that guy with the dating Cliff Notes.
Frieda Frisk has an overwhelmingly androgynous look today. In fact, at first glance, I didnât even recognize that it was Frieda: I thought Tracy was questioning some (new) ill-groomed blond gangster. And while the dailiesâ version of âGlenn Closeâ Frisk reads as a strong, silent type ex-cop turned PI, this Sunday variant does indeed hint at her being a lesbian, especially in that odd last panel statement.
That should be irrelevant to the Howell babies case, unless Clair makes use of itâŚ.

Clearly Howell and Jimmy are deplorable and vile
Was they who sent the shooter. Been waiting for a while
For news of death of Frieda Frisk, their records she did find
The baby merchants mutter now. Unscrupulous. Unkind.
Frisk has got the lowdown. No if, and, but, or maybe
Truth for Lizz is gratis. Revealed as a Howell baby.

Forsooth! It doth seem to be, the time to share our poetryâŚ
âThereâs something about Frieda,
Like there was âSomething About Mary.â
Perhaps that is just hair gel,
âCause she really is quite scary.
Lest she has dreamed to fit right in,
With Curly, Moe, and Larry.
Donât sit too close or lose an eye,
Youâll need to keep quite wary.â
Nyuk, nyuk, nyukâŚ

I find that response odd âShe was always very nice to meâ almostâŚautistic.

âLizz was always very nice to me.â For one thing, sheâs working with me to make my hair look less like blonde crabgrass.

Not feeling the depiction of Det. Friske in todayâs strip.

Detective Friske is the narrative equivalent of a black hole, sucking up all narrative drive and suspense, & leaving a void.
