I still say that the University is supposed to send these notices in writing and not have the RA’s deliver them verbally. Tiff could technically challenge the increase on grounds of improper service.

Bernice is clueing you in that you probably can’t stay in your fancy dorm room much longer. Prepare to have a roommate in a tiny room and hear her doing the bed gymnastics with somebody. Oh what fun. One of the things I disliked about dorm room was that.

Tiffany needs to have a serious talk with Anne; “do you want to help me loosen Dad’s purse strings or do you want me to move back home with you and Dad”; I’m betting that if push came to shove, Anne would do ANYTHING…short of hiring a hit man (and maybe not then)…to keep Tiffany out of the house…

Holy crap, is Bernice about to hit the nail on the head here and get Tiffany moving in the right direction?!? It feels like Evans is finally about to subvert my expectations (fingers crossed that I don’t jinx it).

I am getting a little confused here. I assume that Tiffany’s dad still covers her university expenses, but has cut her off from extravagant living over and above that. Bernice is about to suggest that she live in a less expensive dormitory room, but isn’t that already covered by her dad?

Okay, okay. Tiffany needs a cheaper shared dorm room. Got it, Ms R.A. But, even a shared dorm room has to be paid for. And what about when the Summer rolls around and TIFF’s roommates leave? Wouldn’t that mean that Tiff will be paying for the whole thing for several months, by herself?

I’m afraid that Tiff‘s either moving back home, or moving in the Gulag are her most viable options.

Unless she moves in with Bets. But as of yet, there is no indication that Bets even lives on campus. She, like Luann, may still live at home.

And THAT, IMHO, would make for a most interesting, highly entertaining, “living arrangement.” Especially when Mrs Ann Farrell shows up at Bets parent’s house to TRY to throw her weigh around.

    Round One coming up. ;)

No, Tiffany, living in a "private, premium dorm room does NOT help your financial situation, although it obviously helps you to feel better about your life.

Tiffany’s Epiphany: she’s spending more money than she’s bringing in so she needs to **gasp**down grade to save money. She’s upset because life has hit her in the face…hard and she doesn’t like it. Now she COULD get some of her luxurious lifestyle back by asking to move back with dad but that means dealing with the wicked witch of the west, Ann Eiffel.

GASP! Maybe this will really be the time when Bernice will be able to help someone with her advice? Will Bernice invite Tiffany to her own room or will find her a place in the dorm to share with someone? Or will Tiffany reinterpret Bernice’s advice in a really strange way? Again?

I don’t get it. In my day, dorm and food service costs were paid up front, like tuition. This sounds like Tiff pays dorm rent by the month. But then this is Luanniverse.

One of the perks of being an SA in college was I had a private room. It was a converted storage closet and I shared a bathroom with two guys next door. If I stretched out on my bed I had to be careful or I’d bash my head or punch my feet against the walls. You had to open the entry door carefully or you smack it into the bed, and four people was standing room only. Cozy.

If Tiffany lost the weight she put on during her “dark period” she could probably make better money modeling. Wasn’t she heading in that direction at one point in her past?

Ann said she and Tom were going to Italy while “their” bedroom was being remodeled. If that’s true, Tiff should move back home while they’re gone. She could tell the contractors to go really, REALLY slow, take their time——and jack up the price on daddy dearest as much as they can!

Not a permanent solution no, but it would give Tiff a break, give her time to regroup, maybe save some of her money and figure out a plan.

Bernice is being a good friend. I am pleased Greg is showing this more. Bernice tries really hard in everything she does. She is young, so she does make mistakes….. but truthfully, she exhibits the strongest drive to TRY to do good in all she does…. of all the regular characters, IMO.

This strong desire to try to do good always endeared me to her character.

Do not get me wrong, there are many “good” characters…. but I do feel Bernice tries the hardest of her own effort to do good. Gunther, and Luann, and many others do “good” as well, but IMO it is often because it is what they feel is expected of them. Bernice SEEMS to have it as her MISSION…. even when her efforts go completely belly up.

Absolutely insane how much living on campus costs an undergrad these days. I love watching the looks on their faces when I tell them that when I attended a major university decades ago, I had a one bedroom off campus apartment for the princely sum of $55 per month. They’ve sadly got it rough in that respect these days.

Both Bernice and Bets have a role to play here, but Bet’s doesn’t know Tiffany’s backstory; so this is where Bernice comes in. Bernice knows where Tiffany is coming from and right now I believe she is being very gentle about what needs to be done. If Bet’s saw Tiffany’s room she might not be able to display the level of understanding that Bernice is showing.
