This whole sequence has been cracking me up. First, apparently Mike and Steve never heard of stranger danger and will just hop in a van with anyone. Then Dick and Sam decide to go by themselves to the zoo, cause that’s not a trap. Then, clearly you can trust an alligator who just ate a steak to immediately go after 4 people. Seems like a very bad means of assassination. Its a good thing the good guy’s gullibility is counterbalanced by the bad guys poor planning. :p
1. The purposely preposterous plan to execute them in this recklessly ridiculous routine.
2. A conveniently contrived concoction of their well-timed waking up just as the gator wildly walks in.
3. Grasping the great gator down like that with only his two feet. Em gators are very strong. A real gator would’ve shaked himself loose and chomped off Tracy’s legs by now.
This is nothing but an incredible intended insult of the reasonably reasoning reader’s intelligence.
Tracy’s is trying to make the gator think it’s an ottoman. The gator is going to stop and be still until Tracy gets his bound legs off it. I’m joking, but the plot is really sad.
Joe is doing excellent art in support of an insupportably unbelievable arc. Tracy bops the ’gator with his bound feet and that stops the hungry predator?! And now Lt. Clark just happens to be near the reptile house, but was nowhere near earlier when the Four Dummies went down and bound to become ’gator chow?!

Lorenzo has an appetite. He loves to eat raw meat
Awake from slumber, Tracy has no taste for such defeat.
“Ye Gods! We’re in deep trouble now. My arms I barely feel
Hands tightly bound. Down on the ground. Don’t wish to be a meal.”
The juicy steak it failed to slake an appetite so fierce
React and fight this moonlit night, lest gator’s sharp teeth pierce.
“Holey Toledo!” Nomad sees the horror of their plight
Unhappy meal would bleed and squeal and shout with every bite.
Now Sam comes to. What can he do? Send out a call for aid
These boys have been in tougher spots. They rarely are afraid.

Luckily the cold has rendered that gator sluggish. ✨

I was about to compose my weekly silly poem when I realized nothing could match the ludicrous silliness of today’s strip so why bother trying.
Cheers.

I thought Dick Tracy had just jumped the shark until I realized it was an alligator.
What a croc.

Looks like Lt Clark is in the right place at the right time…

Good morning™, gator whompers !
Looks like Tracy hit that sweet spot behind the head. Is there an explanation why Lt. Clark just happened to be so close when the call came ?

Good morning™, rescuers!
Well, we got a reaction from Sam. As for Steve, he is literally out of the picture today.
It’s lucky that Lt. Clark happened to be patrolling nearby. He seems to have reached the reptile house very quickly.
Notice that Tracy (and presumably the others) actually has handcuffs around his wrists — not just a rope.

A bit bloody illogical isn’t it? Or am I putting to much into comic logic?

Sorry, but all this is simply stupid.

The look on the gator’s face suggests more Godzilla than gator.

It seems odd that a Lt. would be out on foot patrol

Yes, silly, but the artwork is great. Nicely menacing croc and the flashlight shining into the darkness is a nice effect.

Artwork..A+..story..Unfortunately a typical FF-, sad. Relative to HOF..the car occupants were probably white.
