OT: is mine the only cat obsessed with sunlight reflections? Every afternoon around 1:00 or so, the sunlight hits my dining room table just right that if my phone is on the table, the sunlight will reflect off it and cause a translucent “spot” on the ceiling or wall, and Ember will absolutely come unglued meowing at it almost angrily. If it’s within reach, she’ll attack it with a fervor typically only reserved for the Red Dot.
… and if she can’t find it at the appropriate time of day, she’ll stare at the ceiling, occasionally meowing, looking for it.
O.T. Writing Market Folks, with so many writers here, I want to remind you of Chicken Soup For The Soul which is looking for true stories about cats for an anthology and another one about dogs. It closes January 15th. The pay (I think $200) is very good. The other upcoming anthologies are also interesting. https://www.chickensoup.com/story-submissions/possible-book-topics
O.T. – After Paul let Yum Yum out this morning, a car pulled into the parking lot. Paul thought nothing of it, as the tenants with vehicles tend to leave or come home at assorted hours. Yum Yum started frantically “hammering” at the door. When Paul opened the door, he confronted a woman crouching on the deck, trying to lure Yum Yum to her. Thankfully, with her dislike of strangers, Yum Yum was having nothing of it. The woman told Paul (as she was retreating to her car) that she had just lost her cat and was looking for another one. Yum Yum hasn’t budged from Paul’s lap since.
I’ve told this story before: A college football team was once tasked with caring for the toddlers at a local day care center. They had complained about their conditioning regimen. Their coach arranged this little exercise. At the end of the day, the players were exhausted, the next day they were stiff and sore. They never complained about conditioning again.

If the woman hadn’t been there, then Elvis would have found a way to intercept. He never fails as protector in time of true need.

“I had trained her well!”, smirks Lupin, with glee, and says, “and now, young cadet, let’s go destroy that indruding thief Goldilocks cat!”

There she goes
There she goes again
Now Lupin won’t complain
She’s one Elvis can’t contain
Just save whatever remains
There she goes
There she goes again
Racing on rough terrain
Hurting Elvis’ brain
But Lupin’s on her train
There she goes
There she goes again!

Local cat appears to’ve bitten off more than he can chew. Maybe Trevor could help, by trying to herd her.

Don’t worry, Elvis. Baby diapers are one of the greatest bumpers in the world, and toddlers almost always land on their butts.
