I remember the spring when my Mother saw four robins on the front lawn and she called them “Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice” after the recent movie.Ah, memories!

Our Navy Base here on the FL seems to be on a Robin migration route. Flocks of hundreds of them showed up about 4 weeks ago. They usually stay around for only a week, but were here for 3 weeks this time.

He’s got the description of the world down pat at present. We could all use a few robin sightings about now.

I’ve been seeing robins all winter long. It’s been a mild winter here in Maryland.

Robins live here year-round. But Cedar Waxwings only fly through on their way by, and if you don’t spot ‘em when they’re here, you won’t get another chance until the other end of the migration.

Oregon has summer robins and winter robins. Someone actually did a genetic analysis and they are distinct. Our summer robins winter in California and winter robins summer in Alaska.

If you want real fame, Calvin, announce the first hummingbird. I saw my first robin several weeks ago, and a flock a few days later. Normally, right after that, there’s one brief spell of really bad weather, maybe something frozen, then it becomes springish. We’ve had the bad weather, and now everything early spring is blooming or past.

I’ve been starting to see robins as early as February. But I’m pretty sure they are what are called “winter robins,” which don’t migrate with the others and instead bulk up and stay here, occasionally coming out when the weather is mild to look for food. And lately the robins have been getting even more active…

I used to get robins in the yard on President’s day every year, as they migrated back north. Palm trees were dropping nuts one time, and the robins were eating them and staggering around like drunks. Their governor must have insisted they take a different route, since I haven’t seen them for several years now.
