at the grocery store I work at, I once bought myself a frozen pizza that had beet sauce, diced butternut squash, slices of goat cheese… a little off-putting, but managed to eat it
Luann is the definition of a contradiction: she wants a loving romantic(possibly sexual relationship) but she constantly puts guys in the friend zone while complaining they won’t give her what she wants without her telling them what she wants. If she ever wants to have a serious relationship and not just a feel good seasonal fling, she needs to stop caring what other people think of her love interests.
Yes, start trying fussy new recipes the moment you’re put in charge of making family meals! Learning the basics is for chumps! At least Frank gave up on the vegan lifestyle, because that would’ve gotten complicated.
Tuesday: Jack offers to help cook dinner. Wednesday: Dinner is a success and Frank and Jack hit it off. Thursday, Friday, Saturday: Somehow we get to Jack moving in as the new tenant…?
The arrow of love is clearly pointing now, A handsome Jack encountering a very sharp, well [ut together young woman doing domestic things. The man she should be shopping for should be a significant other and guess what Jack shows up, as he always does. He is the one male who always is shown as a friend, but the little wench (I say that out of affection, my enjoyment if the Tara character is strong) Tara perceived chemistry between these two some time ago, but maybe they both are a bit unable to recognize it. I think Jack is interested, but does not want to be rejected by Luann; my theory is that he is quite interested in her and while he might have an easy confident relationship with most young women, his feelings about Luann are far more than casual, but he can’t express them. Luann needs to see what is right in front of her, what has been hinted in several arcs from Pru to yesterdays metaphorical dog walk in the park, if she does I think the result will be an answer to her hapless roller coaster of a romantic relationship. Actually I think this is also happening with Gun(ther) as well. But time and events in Luannverse drip, drip, drip along.
Actually, tossing all those ingredients into a pot of boiling water isn’t that hard. Re frozen pizza – I don’t even have a microwave – that’s not how I do dinner.
Now I want to see Luann and Jack cook together♡. That would be fantastic♡♡♡. Jack once said he’s a good cook. Also, it would be time for Luann to learn how to make Pizza on her own, stopping buying frozen pizza.
A nice opening to the week; Mordy must be into his 5th cup of coffee and spinning on this with the Jack lovers active. Oh well. This is a nice opening as many have pointed out. They do complement each other nicely (as reminded, Luann with tire changing and I’ll speculate Jack with cooking). Interesting Luann’s going fresh rather than frozen (a bag of frozen stew veggie’s is true E-Z), the real art is building the flavors though. Mordy my friend, I’m hoping to see Jack helping Luann with the shopping and talking cooking and getting an invite to cook the stew with her. I foresee this happening with Jack cooking and meeting Frank and maybe even Nancy (another early night) with the 3-4 of them getting along nicely. We may even see Nancy look at Luann and comment on what a great guy Jack is, like your dad (light bulb moment for Luann); but then maybe I’m tilting at a windmill and you’ll be Pancho.
Luann may be be trying to out do Frank who seems to have set bar the high initially. But simple is good and maybe Jack will come over to her house and teach her a few basic cooking techniques.
It’s good to eat meat free now and then. That doesn’t make you a vegan, nor should it. I think Frank chose a dish that was out of the ordinary to prove his prowess as a cook. And to show he could cook both healthy and delicious meals.
I like to cook, but I don’t mess around with a bunch of ingredients and off the wall herbs and spices like this recipe. There are far too many excellent recipes with simple ingredients and instructions out there. My two favorite cookbooks are “Easy Cooking With 5 Ingredients”, and “Aunt Bee’s Mayberry Cookbook”.
This must’ve been written before the Pandemic because theres FOOD at the grocery store and Jack and Luann are closer than 6 ft. apart. (They should get closer.)
Jack has definitely been moved back into the PittsDown Man artwork with the last dog park meeting. GnK decided that he was a player and not suitable as boyfriend Luann material for Luann. Prior to that, his looks were morphing, much as Brad’s did. But now, instead of rescuing Luann, he has stiffed her in the camping episode.
As I have been labeled as too much of a Negative Nellie, I am going to make an effort to post more positive thoughts on here. That doesn’t mean my usual criticisms will disappear altogether, just that I am going to offset them a bit with positive observations regarding the stories/characters. So let’s start:
I enjoy how the storyarcs for the past month have been building off one another. An arc featured Pru leaving, which led to the arc about the Fuse having a job opening, which led to Nancy rejoining the workforce and Frank/Luann adjusting, which led to Luann helping with the cooking. These are separate storyarcs but they still build off each other, which creates a sense of continuity where actions have ripple effects. I enjoy that in my stories, so I’m glad to see it here.
Looks like a hand full of asparagus; the colorist should have read the sign on the bin of leeks – the white root part is missing, and the shape is a little wonky – more flat at the bottom than pointy.
So many are hoping that this encounter will resuscitate the Jack-Luann boy-girl-friend arc.
I expect this grocery meetup to go the same way as the Christmas one with Shannon. That is, Jack is just a passing encounter. His end of the dialogue could have been supplied, Bernice for instance.

Hope you enjoy.
