Dental treats! Dental treats are a big hit around here. Especially because they don’t smell like tuna fish (yuck!)

Is BCN in any newspapers? I only saw Georgia’s strip a few years ago when she was featured for a week or so in my local paper….started following BCN online then

I can remember when the added ingredient to toothpaste was chlorophyll. Then it was hexachlorophene. Then flouride, microbeads, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda.

So I’m sure there will be a big market for toothpaste that freshens breath with the power of tuna fish.

My vet recommended that I try some of these fishy dental treats for my cats. $20/bag of 30. They’re supposed to get one a day = almost $1000 per year. But I decided to have the cats give them a try. Their verdict was “Nope, nope, nope.”

A certain kind of cat treat company, who’s name I am not tempted to say, makes a bucket sized version of their treats. I’m not sure what added flavor, that they put into it, but my cats go screaming nutty for it!

Yum Yum gets treats on a regular basis throughout the day. She was upset with me this morning because I would not get up at 5:15, so in revenge she jumped on Paul’s stomach, jolting him out of a sound sleep. Nobody was amused.

I also buy her treats in the large container. It beats buying them in pouches, even though she doesn’t get as much variety.

I get them little enzymatic dental treats that look like little barrels. The cats all like them and supposedly they are good for their gums and teeth. But they’re ungodly expensive. I tried for years to get a a cat == any cat == to let me brush her teeth. I have an entire drawer full of cat toothpaste, cat toothbrushes, fingertip brushes, etc. as a testimony to my complete failure.

When I was a little Puck, I got a Buzzy

    Only mouse I’ve ever owned

Now I love treats just the way I love that Buzzy

But only now my love has grown

And it gets stronger in every way

And it gets deeper, let me say

And it gets higher day by day

Do I love treats, my oh my? Oh baby

    Cabinet deep, counter high

If I lost them would I cry

Oh, how I love treats, baby, baby, baby, baby

Today is Visit Your Relatives Day. Why I would want to do that is beyond me: “The gods bless and keep my relatives—far away from me!” That’s right, I’m the black sheep of the family. I was in my fifties before they stopped trying to make me conform to their idea of what I should be, how I should think, and what I should feel. They don’t get the C.A.T principle.

This of course does not apply to my wife, my sons, or our cats. And I do miss my river otter relations, but I can’t visit right now, and I certainly wouldn’t ask them to come down here! (For those who don’t know, I’m a river otter changeling.)

So those of you who have relatives who understand and practice Communication, Acceptance, and Trust, rejoice in your good fortune, for you are truly blessed. If you can’t visit them right now, give them a call, write them a letter, or send an email, and let them know how much you appreciate them.

I wonder it the bunny cookie jar isn’t Georgia honoring another great cartoonist, Sandra Boynton. That bunny looks just like the ones Sandra draws.

    O/T (sort off)

I was thinking about what Georgia had said in one of her story time live streams about maybe doing a 31st stream in honour of Halloween. It is of course the wrong time of year in the northern hemisphere and the right time in the southern hemisphere (where I am). I began to think to what costumes the BCN bubble might do as a group and being the geek that I am, I thought of Star Trek, specifically Deep Space Nine. So here are my characters who would play them. What do you envisage the BCN bubble doing as a group costume, so to speak?

    Deep Cat Nine (Lives)

Comander Sisco – Sir Figaro Newton

    Kira Nerys – Tabitha

    Odo – Goldie

    Quark – Tommy

    Dr Julian Bashir – Puck

    Jadzia Dax – Sophie

    Lt. Worf – Elbiff

    Chief Miles O’Brien – Burt

    Elim Garak – Lupin

Our feline fur kids could take or leave the kitty dental treats…not their faves. But the dog and his dental treats…that’s another story. He sniffs them slowly up and down when we hold one out to him, like it’s a fine cigar. Then he slowly opens his mouth to take it, and he takes it every so gently…and then it’s off to the races! High speed with lots of slipping to get from the kitchen to his bed in the living room, where he eats it up in record time (probably negating any dental benefit).

Mine don’t do dental treats, they actually brush their teeth. Vlad started by watching me (I’d show him what I was doing) and getting a drink from mommy’s cup. And then we graduated to him getting his teeth brush. He’ll jump onto the toilet and brush his teeth. Then he gets his drink of water. Sebastian on the other hand…………….it took about 2 years for him to sit on the toilet by himself. Without me having to hold him. And he gets a drink from the cup too. Of course, now my baby is 13, he’s getting to be a bit……..crabby about it. And I do help him up. Sebastian, he still jumps up by himself.
