I have a friend who’s in Earl’s (and my) age cohort who has taught herself to use gesture-writing. It’s a bit odd reading texts from her because she’s not one to often go back and check that the phone correctly guessed what she intended to say… but at least it’s made of whole words.
If I write a note on my phone, I forget it’s there. I have note pads in every room because I will forget what I want if I have to leave a room to write it down.
I love it when my son has something he wants to show me on his phone. I usually have to ask him what I’m looking at so he has to explain it to me anyway.
Way back, before spell checkers on computers, a guy I knew wrote columns for newsletters. The people setting up type would just read his column out loud and someone would type away. He always had the correct pronunciation, so no problems; then he got a spell checker and just took whatever word came up. Things got difficult.
I’m with Earl on this. Those tiny keyboards and my fumble fingers do not get along well. I have enough trouble with a regulation sized laptop keyboard.
Yesterday I was trying to use those modern thermometers and it kept giving me ‘Error’ and I was thinking never had a problem with those glass mercury thermometers they worked every time at least, technology can be a double edged sword but ultimately it is great and I’m thankful
Red Skeleton said he kept a note pad by his bed in case, during the night, he had a good idea for a sketch. One night he said he woke up with a great idea, and wrote it down. The next morning he remembered he had written down and idea. Excited, he looked at his notebook and he had written, “Write play.”
i have fat fingers and i have trouble texting but thank goodness for auto-correct or texting phrase several times and the words pop up for you to enter without having to spell them yourself.

Earl’s way is better. Unless you have trouble reading your own handwriting.

A good thing to do Earl, unless you forget why you wrote down what you did…

Those notebooks are useful if you meet a deaf person.

Clyde should try finding the magnification option on that phone.

I write notes to myself all the time. But I still sometimes neglect to do what I wrote down.

I have arthritic fingers that don’t work screens well, and poor eyesight for small screens. I stick with notebooks and little pads of paper…

I liked the phones that were bigger. They had bigger screens and bigger buttons so they were a lot easier for me.

Whatever is put on a phone may be seen by others . Stick with the paper.

Fun fact: as you get older, your fingertips generally become drier, meaning that it’s harder to get a touch screen to work.

Have some fun with “voice to text” as the computer/phone tries valiantly to understand.

Sometimes I write in Spanish and forget to switch back to the English keyboard. When you voice dictate, it can become muy interesante.
