So, Lizz was playing the part of Hope as many people here figured, but Professor Stokes looks a little dazed, not just from the blow to the head, but no doubt also his surprise that his target was not actually Hope Brown. Of course, Tracy was waiting in the car, just around the corner.
Hey gang-Mike asked me to come and tell you that he just got out of an 8 day hospital stay. It wasn’t terribly serious, not COVID related, and he’s home and okay now.
Neal was right and I was wrong; I guess Brenda was indeed back at her office. It is Lizz! Great job, Detective Grove! Turns out that the MCU had set up a trap for Stokes without either he or we any the wiser.
Now that the Vampire Killer seems to be caught, we have about a week-and-a half to kill (you should pardon the expression) until Halloween.
hey wrapped htis up faster than i expected. where’s the cross over for Annie Warbucks and all the rest? i thought they’d keep it going until halloween.
Enjoyable, but it seems to be rapping up a bit fast. I was assuming this would be going till Hallowe’en (which is supposed to have an apostrophe, dammit).
Even though many guessed it was Lizz, I am very happy to see her involved in a case. Her martial arts skills haven’t been used in ages and it is good to see her utilizing those skills. Good action and artwork. Kudos Mike and Joe!
1- DT: Hold it right there, Hope! I had you figured for the Vampire Killer this whole time! We don’t hold with hate crimes in Tracyville!
2- DOLL: It’s me, Liz! See? DT: WHAAAT? Did you kill and scalp Hope, you sick-o! You fiend! I should just… DOLL: No, no, no. Allow me to explain what’s going on here…
Stay tuned for whatever explanation presents itself over the next few days of strips. Or failing that, a short series of classic knock-knock jokes until the next story starts.
I like how the story played out – Brenda was important to the plot, and Lizz got in on the action. But I am surprised that it’s ending before Hallowe’en. Unless Abner reappears… Maybe he was the dearly departed uncle who left the girls’ the money. (Nah, I don’t think so. But it is a fun idea.)And now Annie and Honeymoon will be able to interview Brenda for their story!

Will Tracy stick a stake to kill Stokes? :)

Best wishes for Mike. Thanks, GK.
As for the story, you know, if we could cut out that horrible two week interlude, this is turning out not bad, after all.
Great to see Liz get part of the action!
(And had it been Brenda instead, the joke I was waiting to launch was, she got him with those Venus Flytrap Eyes!)

Was a motive ever established for why he wanted to kill them?

Lizz’s wallop has the bats swirlin’ around Stokes’ belfry! Love the dazed look on his mug in panel 2.

Why did Lizz’s skirt keep going up and up and up (or is that a naive question)?

“I invented a rig that simulates vampire fangs. You bite your victim on the neck, and it drains their blood.”

Jeez – wonder where our resident eagle eye is today to point out the color inconsistency of Liz’s skirt today.
Hope he’s ok. Without him what’s a poor magpie to do?

I would like to see a thorough explanation of Dr. Stoke’s financial motive for killing the Brown sisters and why he wanted to collect their blood ?
To collect “trophies” like other sick, deviant, criminals, ( I.e. rapists ), perhaps ?
