I’ve got one grandson that ( if allowed ) would use up that large bottle of ketchup in a week! He’s in that teenage stage of putting the stuff on everything!
Retired in a RV for seven years. Always spent the winter in Arizona. Come spring when all the other snowbirds went back home we inherited their unused condiments. One year we received nine bottles of different mustards.
It’s a good point to make as people tend to save money buying these huge amounts that they’ll never be able to use. However, cooking for a family requires ketchup in my sloppy joes and meatloaf as well as some salad dressings and sauces. Big bottles are a boost!
My wife has a painful foot condition. A trip to Costco every month or two saves her many painful small trips to the local supermarket. We always seem to use up what she buys.
Not the nicest thing to say to an elderly parent. We all gotta go, but no need to rub it in over big bottle of ketchup. Maybe if she bought a case of them.
Not sure what the point was of criticizing the purchase. She could get a container and take some of the ketchup home so that it will get used before it goes bad.
Now that my family is just down to my daughter and I, we are trying to break the habit of buying EVERYTHING in bulk. It is taking us a while to realize that not everything goes quickly enough or has a self life long enough to make buying large quantities make sense.
I buy my ketchup from Costco as well. It comes in a three pack of large containers. I don’t use ketchup often, But the price is so reasonable compared to what you find in the grocery store, but it’s like an investment

She has forgotten that her father puts ketchup on everything.

If I were inherited a Costco bottle of ketchup for that remark, I’d just give it to someone else as I’m not into ketchup.

Odd that she didn’t buy a whole palette of the stuff from Costco.

The Ketchup would probably be separated by that time into water and solids, as ours does here!

Just what an elderly parent needs, a reminder of one’s mortality.

Actually, it comes in three-packs now. Easier to divvy among your kids.

Save the Ketchup packs from the fast food places!

I’m one of those people who never has ketchup on food. I have sweet chilli sauce on burgers but that’s pretty much it.

My sister-in-law looked at all of Mama’s accumulated treasures and commented it would take three dumpsters to haul it all off.
My other sister-in-law said that was silly, that she would see what she could get for it on eBay.
And over time, Mama got confused and thought I made the dumpsters comment.
